Whats wrong with my PIE?

this has been a regular occurence for a while but it has now annoyed me to the point of starting a new topic!! previously, i used to tut and perhaps even pull a face but things have gotten worse...

When surfing on my E650, i come across videos/pictures that i want to download - in most cases in the past, a simple click and the WMV, MPG or JPEG was on its way either over the WiFi connection or a GPRS session. Sometimes the phone would have a burp/cough/fart and would display a massive page of what looked like text/control characters and the file wouldn't come in at all - in those instances a simple restart of the browser would resolve it, in some cases an quick (on the E650? - ha!!) on/off would sort it out.

nowadays, i cant seem to download a damn thing! every time i want to actually bring a video in, the phone tries to download a wmwebasf file and it starts straight away without even asking me what i want to call the incoming file or where i want to put it. No amount of restarting browser or phone is fixing this...

I have tried a copy of Opera but that doesnt help as it uses PIE to download files!! if i click on the required file in Opera, it asks if i really want to and then promptly fires up PIE!!!!

Does anyone have any ideas? this is really getting my goat now and isnt helping my general frustration with the phone....

Huh? Opera has it's own download manager, no reason to use PIE.

really?? the version i have uses PIE as its download mechanism!! seriously, if i click a picture of a video it fires up PIE and then proceeds to get all confused in exactly the way i've described!!

opera 8.65 (i believe this is the latest release for wm5/6), not opera mobile..

oh ok.. i use a Java based Opera thing... that could be the reason.

is it also possible that Opera is the cause of the PIE problem? i'm pretty certain it did it before i had the Java app...

1. No, Opera does not change the way PIE handles links to files.

2. Only Opera Mini (Java) uses PIE for downloads, Opera Mobile 8.65 handles that itself.

ok, thanks for that - i shall check out a proper Opera.. but 24bucks for something that PIE should do..

so anyone got a fix for the PIE problem itself? its doing my nut!
