Yea....I've installed all the drivers from the asus site.....the webcams installed ok now after I've just done a fresh re install and stil get the same have you installed direct x mono? also is your a full xp instalation or a stripped nlite version?
Guest J273 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 sorry hope that makes sence ....posting from my phone.
Guest Monolithix Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 No probs :( I'm using WinFLP, i have installed DX but i'm pretty sure it worked before that...
Guest J273 Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 ahh ok ...so what are the advantages of using fundamentals over a standard xp install? Is it just a more stripped version meaning no need to nlite it?
Guest Monolithix Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Yep thats pretty much it. I'm considering going for an nLite version though once i have uni out of the way for this semester, i'd prefer a custom build with dx9, wlm, hotfixes and the like slipstreamed in...
Guest J273 Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Well after installing about 5 versions of windows over the past few days,Finally got it sorted ...Must have been somthing to do with my nlited version's of xp as ive just installed xp full version and it works fine and im amazed by the quality of the camera. Just been using it over MSN to do a video call and its brilliant. Im also amazed by how fast the thing is now ive installed XP Full and all the latest patches .etc....It flys along compared to my old nlited version which i find strange. Only downside is i now only have 700 odd MB left on the main SSD Think i may install office on the main drive now and leave it at that evrything else on the sd. Move the pagefile and my documets/temp folders over to my 4G SD card and then install all my apps on the SD card. Sorted :(
Guest leonxki Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Mines working fine too. It was working fine when i had win xp flp, also working fine with my nlited version. You might be missing some hardware support for it if you disable some items in the hardware page of nlite. Also, I do have dx9, wmp9. If im not wrong, installing the ACPI driver from ASUS is paramount. Please make sure you run the asus instal .exes.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 I thought you couldn't move the page file successfully? P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Anyone tried the XP SP3 Beta which is supposed to offer a 10% performance boost? P
Guest Monolithix Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 Forgot about that, might give it a whirl before i play around with different builds. J273: even though it says it has moved it, XP won't let you move the pagefile to a removable storage device (see my thread elsewhere in this forum). You'll need to disable it, reboot, set it to 256/512mb as per your preference to save yourself over a GB on the SSD :(
