Guest lozzd Posted November 27, 2007 Report Posted November 27, 2007 Ok, i all im new, so hi Hello! i just got a htc tytan/mda vario III for a decent price of £100 + £15 a month which seems good (i think) anyhow its still stock. i have a few samll problem with it though. 1). HSDPA, why cant i connect or even see options for it Well, if you're paying £15 a month, I highly doubt you have web and walk plus.. Which means you won't get HSPDA. 2). why is the camera so slow Only in the dark, when nightmode automatically switches on, and gets very laggy. It's fine when you're in enough ambient light.
Guest hotphil Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 1) the setting for it is in start>settings>connections - but I'm not as familiar with TMobile's tarrifs as Lozzd clearly is so you may well not have it on your account.
Guest dobby156 Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 yeah, i also pay 7.50 on top of the that, but that doesn't affect the price of the phone so much. so i should be getting HSDPA but im not, and there are no options any ware to do so?
Guest lozzd Posted November 28, 2007 Report Posted November 28, 2007 £7.50 would be web and walk, not web and walk plus, HSPDA only comes with Web and Walk Plus.
Guest mandt Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Another obvious question would be have you got HSDPA coverage? BTW I'm on W n W standard and get HSDPA but it's an older contract, as lozzd correctly states new connections on W n W standard (£7.50) are not HSDPA enabled
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 how the heck did you manage to get it for £100 on a £15 a month tariff (which i'm assuming is flext 20) - its £199.99 on the website (or £169.99 with the web 'n' walk) and yeah, you don't get HSDPA unless you fork out another £5 a month on web 'n' walk plus, but this does let you have instant messaging and use your phone as a modam, and assuming you're on the £5 a month off offer for november you might as well go for it
Guest Transform Posted November 29, 2007 Report Posted November 29, 2007 Another obvious question would be have you got HSDPA coverage? BTW I'm on W n W standard and get HSDPA but it's an older contract, as lozzd correctly states new connections on W n W standard (£7.50) are not HSDPA enabled i cant even get 3G and i have had my vario for 2 weeks now!
Guest FrankyG Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Another obvious question would be have you got HSDPA coverage? BTW I'm on W n W standard and get HSDPA but it's an older contract, as lozzd correctly states new connections on W n W standard (£7.50) are not HSDPA enabled Seriously? HSDPA isn't included with current W n W Standard? I got my Vario II over a year ago with W n W standard and activated HSDPA no problem and have been hammering it every day since then! :( When my contract expires next March - will I be able to just continue with my current coonditions or will I be forced to take out a new contract with HSDPA disabled on standard W n W? Cheers, FrankYG
Guest lozzd Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 No, the new policy doesn't include anyone who signed up before like, a month ago.
Guest mandt Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Ditto I recently upgraded and am still getting HSDPA with W n W standard, on those grounds it soulds like you should be ok
Guest Transform Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 im just wondering if i need to set anything up to get my 3G working?
Guest mandt Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 Again do you have coverage? If you cant get 3G anywhere then you should probably get on the phone to T-Mo and ask what's wrong
Guest Transform Posted December 3, 2007 Report Posted December 3, 2007 i occasionally get the 3G with the white square around it. but am i not supposed to get the 3G replace the antena icon with the reception bars? if so, thats never happened!
Guest mandt Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 am i not supposed to get the 3G replace the antena icon with the reception bars? No, as long as your single G icon changes to a 3G icon you have 3G available, but as you say 'occaisonally' it doesn't sound like you are getting very good coverage
Guest Transform Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 but even when its available, it doesnt do anything after that, yet i know someone living in the same area as me who has a vario 2 and 3g coverage :(
Guest jimbouk Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 I think there is a danger that you are confusing 3G coverage and usage. If there is a 3G signal in your location, then the large data icon will change from a G (or E with some networks using EDGE) to a 3G (or U with some networks). The small data icon above the signal strength meter shows the antenna symbol whn you are not connected to a data connection (ie when you first turn on the device). The Antenna changes to the relevant data icon (G, E, 3G or U) when you have connected to data (ie when you first open web or send/receive emails). It then stays "connected" but passive unless you disconnect from data (either by holding red end call button for three seconds or the end data button in com manager). If you have HSDPA, the 3G icon should only change to an H only when data is actually being transferred... although it seems some networks have changed their 3G indicator to an H if the device is H enabled (just to confuse us all further).
Guest dobby156 Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 hi thanks but i found out th problem, the company who manageses 3G and HSDPA decided it would be funny to turn HSDPA off for a few months, it should be back on @ Jan08
Guest Transform Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 this is what i constantly have on the screen in terms of the 3g stuff. put the balloon up for show... is this right?
Guest mandt Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 Your 3G is working just fine, you have a 3G icon with two 'active' arrows, this means you are currently connected to the 3G network.
Guest Transform Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 hmm strange coz in the manual it says on page 33; the icon i have is UTMS connecting. an icon for UTMS in use is '3G' with 4 signal strengh bars under it :(
Guest Electronic Punk Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 On my old MTeor when I got it a 3G connection used to be U but in latest revisions (AKU3?) it became 3G
