Guest Lordsmiff Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Back under warranty at last ;-) Smiffy.
Guest Kallisti Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Anyone know if the Vario II release is different than the one that was available a month or so ago?
Guest The_Flames Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) What are the major differences between the MDA Compact III withe WM5 and WM6 using the T-mobile rom? **edit to make it ask a sensible question :| Edited November 30, 2007 by The_Flames
Guest Rabbit Rocks Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 (edited) http://www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/S...DeviceDownloads has an update for the M3100 dated october 2007 ( second update now ) most probably also wm6 will download and see :( its wm5 but on a whole wm5 is more compatible with older games as software developers dont seem to update older games i will stick with this rom as the wm6 is still too limited Edited November 30, 2007 by Rabbit Rocks
Guest firstandlast Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Back under warranty at last ;-) Smiffy. I sent my faulty mda vario II back to t-mobile with a black majik rom on it and they changed it without question. Maybe I was just lucky!
Guest TheEvo? Posted November 30, 2007 Report Posted November 30, 2007 Works great, anybody know how i can get msn back on my vario 2 after updating to WM6???
Guest agent.m Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Works great, anybody know how i can get msn back on my vario 2 after updating to WM6??? check xda developers (hermes section) there should be a cab. the windows live cab is your best bet
Guest toon9 Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Nothing for MDA Vario I ? Naargh - My Vario S/N isn't recognised..........!! (Not that it's worth the effort for that device anyway like)
Guest pd.ryder Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 (edited) The link in Paul's first post bumps off to an HTC page, rather like the last link released which was originally from a Dutch update I believe. Is this an official T-Mob UK update? I haven't yet put my S/N in and maybe that's why I don't see the page pictured in Paul's post. Just my suspicious mind... :( Edited December 1, 2007 by pd.ryder
Guest The_Flames Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 http://www.tm-phonedownloads.com/ is the UK T-mobile site, but the upgrade links takes you to the same location eventually :(
Guest kurtfhouse Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Has anyone got this upgrade to work on an MDA Compact III yet? I keep getting a 260 error running XP and activesync 4.5 :( Any ideas?

Guest rickwookie Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 Just tried this on a colleagues Vario II. Compared to the unofficial WM6 ROM that I've been using on my Vario II, I'm not impressed. Pugly T-Mobile customizations compared to the WM6 defaults (particularly the dial skin!) Still using Clearvue PDF reader as opposed to Adobe Reader LE! OMG! :( What's with all the silly little icons at the bottom of the Today screen that can only be clicked with a very careful tap of the stylus? All these things can be accessed much easier using hardware buttons or just from the start menu. Not worth the effort.
Guest squilla Posted December 7, 2007 Report Posted December 7, 2007 Well I have T-Mobiles Ameo and I have just downloaded the update, thing is im wondering, is it actually worth installing the update? Will my old programs run? Is it going to be really ropey with Office 2003, does it still have the Windows default theme (I hate the T-mobile one!). If I hate it so much when I have done it can it be reversed? There are just so many questions! :( Having read through the 'Whats new' manual it just looks like they have changed the icons and skins (which actually dont look any better than the WM5 ones) and they have added a few email features. Has anyone tried it yet and liked it? If so why? Sorry for the bombardment of questions but im just wondering if it is worth it.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 11, 2007 Report Posted December 11, 2007 It's worth it IMHO, it's just slickened up, quicker (in my experience) and has nice goodies like HTML email etc. P
Guest UndeadDevil Posted December 12, 2007 Report Posted December 12, 2007 Hmm, and I remember a month or two ago when we had the Test ROM from T-Mobile. I sent them a e-mail with attached Screenshots and they swore blind it will never come out for the Vario II. I'm starting to hate T-Mobile...
Guest SteelyDan Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Does this upgrade include the radio too? I'm running black satin with 1.50.00.00 and want to go back to 1.27.12.11.
Guest pd.ryder Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 So -- from what I can gather, the official WM6 upgrade from T-Mo is worth the bother, but it's best to soft reset before the T-Mo customisation kicks in? If so, what's the best way to identify 'the right time' to soft reset? :(
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 When it does the '3 second countdown'... P
Guest pd.ryder Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 When it does the '3 second countdown'... P Thanks Paul... :(
Guest pd.ryder Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Right -- did it! Avoided the T-Mob customisation and used the TMobileFixed cab to get it all up and running. Great! I even managed to find the 6-tab HTC Home application (which works very well), and duttythroy's Windows Live cab. Skype seems to work a bit better than it did with WM5 and the RealPlayer cab has installed too (although the volume level set seems to override that available to WMP). Great! Well, sort of. I can't get a 'passthrough' internet connection via ActiveSync4.5 no matter how I set the connection (automatic or internet). Has anyone else had this issue? It's not the end of the world, but was handy to have. Could this be related to the 'Allow wireless connection...' setting when Sync'd? I've posted the TMobileFixed cab in case anone else needs it. :(TMobileUKFixed.cab

Guest pd.ryder Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 The other thing I've noticed - I can't get the mobile YouTube site to work. It worked fine before the upgrade and now the videos link doesn't want to open the StreamingMedia app at all. I installed the T-Mo fix for audio problems with the StreamingMedia app. Any suggestions? :(
