Guest FlexiPack Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Hi, Could somebody answer me a couple of questions please. I'm getting the Vario III soon (probably Flext 30 web n walk basic). What i'd like to know is can I upgrade to web n walk plus for just one month as and when needed or is it a mininum 12/18month contract? I realise i could ask T-Mob when I speak to them but after my experience with O2 & Voda i don't trust phone companies, they'll tell you anything to get your business! 2nd Question is: I may get a slingbox in the not too distant future. Is accessing the slingbox on basic web n walk classed as streaming? As according to T-Mob you only get streaming on the plus and max. Cheers!
Guest fusi Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 you can get web n walk as a bolt on to your contract - that is you pay on a monthly basis with no tie in - this does increase the initial cost of the phone - i called them up and asked them about it when i ordered and they recommended i do it this way as it stop me from being tied into it for the entire contract period - as to your second question i have no idea but i tink its probably counted as streaming and thus not allowed on the basic package - but im not sure if they actually enforce it. According to the T-mobile website "If you're a pay monthly customer, you can move free of charge once a month, with effect from your next bill. You'll just need to have been with us for at least 11 months if moving to a cheaper plan." If you sign up to Flext 30 W&W basic initially you can upgrade/downgrade every month. If you sign up for plus or max you cant downgrade for 11 months. Basic W&W, since ~October 17th, will not allow HSDPA(High speed) only GPRS and 3G. Slingbox would be classed as streaming, but Youtube and Orb use streaming and it is possible to watch on W&W basic. Equally Live Messenger etc. and tethering to a laptop are not allowed under Tmobs T&Cs on basic W&W but work well. I think if you dont go over your data allowance they turn a blind eye. But obviously dont go asking for support from Tmob if you have any problems using these on W&W basic. If I were you, I would go with W&W basic and if it is too slow or you have problems upgrade to plus or max, at least you can get official support then. I am really pleased with W&W basic although I do get HSDPA as I had a contract before the October cutoff.
Guest FlexiPack Posted December 1, 2007 Report Posted December 1, 2007 Thanks guys! I rang up about streaming with a slingbox but he didn't know what a slingbox was or whether it would be classed as streaming. I might not be getting one yet anyway so that's ok. Cheers
