Guest opticalc Posted December 5, 2007 Report Posted December 5, 2007 How do I do this with ATT/CINGULAR? I installed the modem drivers from the samsung disc, and I dial out using the following settings: modem init: AT+CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”wap.cingular” Telephone#: *99***1# user name: [email protected] password: CINGULAR1 These settings used to work on my Nokia 6555 via bluetooth. When I try it with USB on the BJ2 it proceeds through the normal phases/stages and looks like it will work, and then it hangs at "Registering" stage and then times out. WTH???

Guest exiled360 Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 I myself would like to know how to connect with my new BJII "On the phone: Go to Settings > Connections> USB Change it from Activesync to Modem. The phone will trickle charge while tethering with the USB cable so your batter will not die. On your computer: Start> Control Panel> Network Connections > Choose "Create a new connection" Choose "Connect to the Internet " Choose "Setup my connection manually" Choose "Connect using a dialup modem" Name the connection: "Att tether" For phone number enter *99# User name (all caps): [email protected] Password: CINGULAR1 Insert the CD from the box and choose the bottom option. Choose to install the Samsung Modem driver. Hook up the phone using the USB cable. Go to Control Panel> System> Hardware tab> Device Manager> Modems Right click the Samsung modem and choose Properties Under one of the tabs it asks for a Modem Initialization String (advanced tab maybe?). Enter this exactly: +CGDCONT=1,"IP","WAP.CINGULAR" Be sure to choose apply or save. Close that out and go back to Network Connections in Control Panel. Double click "ATT tether" Click Properties and then make sure the Samsung modem is chosen as the modem to use with this connection. Close it out and then double click the desktop icon for your new connection. Click "Connect" and you should be online." This works perfect with Vista and XP, too bad no bluetooth tethering :) !
Guest Sed8ed Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Cant you just use ICS.....over bluetooth PAN or USB. I know the BJII doesnt have it installed natively but there's a thread over at HowardForums that explains everything. I know for a fact it works as I set it up on the second BJII I ourchased for my friends business (he has Data pack).....I know AT&T offer a tether type pack (charge for tethered data) but from what I read recently they actually dont monitor it seperately. http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php...p;highlight=ICS I could be completely wrong...so ignore me if I am.
Guest Terry Austin Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Exactly what I did a couple of weeks ago when I got mine to replace BJ1... works like a champ!
