Guest Ovie Posted December 6, 2007 Report Posted December 6, 2007 Hi, at the moment I have a trinity, and on it I run SPB Shell along with Pocketbreeze - it's the perfect combination for me. However, it's quite slow. I'm assuming this is because of the 64mb RAM, am I correct in this assumption? What difference does the processor itself actually make? For example, if I were to switch to the HTC Touch Enhanced Version, (twice the RAM but half the processor), would it be a bit more responsive in the sense that I'd have more free virtual memory, or would the slower processor cancel out the effect? Thanks for any help!

You should only run into severe slowdowns if there is some 1-2M RAM left, which you won't really run into, not even on 64M models. 2. the TOuch has a TI OMAP CPU, which, in practice, is MUCH faster than one might think - it isn't much slower than the Samsung CPU in the Trinity. 3. all in all, I think there's a software incompatibility in here. Try uningstalling one of the apps to see whether the device speeds up.

Thing is, I think there's a memory leak because after a soft reset I'm left with around 22mb RAM, but after a day or so it goes right down to around 12mb. I forgot to mention I'm using SPB Phone Suite as well. The best thing about Shell is the tab system, and it's so useful for me to have a tab for pocket breeze so my home screen isn't cluttered with loads of appointments - is there any other software that lets me do this?
Guest Neil5459 Posted December 9, 2007 Report Posted December 9, 2007 Have you tried Pocket Plus 4 from SpB? It has a much smaller memory requirement now, and as far as I can see, no memory leak. Works well with Phone Suite and can have Breeze as a custom tab, or in any other tab.

Nice, that might be worth giving a go, the only other thing about Shell is the large thumb menus which I really like, but I'm just planning for my next device...something like the Touch which is quite finger friendly so I wouldn't need all that extra jazz. Thanks for that suggestion, I'll look it up!
Guest Ovie Posted December 10, 2007 Report Posted December 10, 2007 it can work now? Haven't tried it yet. I was wondering actually, are there any performance comparison charts for these mobile processors...something like Tom's Hardware but for PPC's?
