AARgh! VERY annoying bug with the new update!

As soon as i entered the profiles and edited my normal profiles volume, it set itself to 'Off' and i cant change it... every time i try, it changes back to off.

So now i cant even hear the ring tones in the sound menu.

Even if i choose to edit another profile, it still sets back to off.

I tried different sounds, tried restarting. Only way i could make it work was if i set the profile back to default and stayed out of the settings for that profile...

this is SO typical microsoft...!!! :evil:

I'm gonna mail Orange this second, and they won't fix it soon, I'll demand my money back and buy a different phone!!

I've had SO many problems with this "gem"... Sometimes it refuses to accept sms's, and sometimes it even refuses to hang up on a call!! :evil: I have to boot before it disconnects!!!

I didnt back up my IPSM. All i did was - orange backup install the update. Follow the de cert procedure - orange restore. Manually configure the internet and MMS settings.

Phone works fine, no profiles wrong etc.

Their is an easyish fix for profile settings, when you change the settings from default an xml file created in IPSMApplication DataProfiles

they are called: Loud.prof.xml / profilename.prof.xml etc

and contain this

DJHope, still doesn't work for me :x

The 'v3w3apw3r' part is telling it to vibrate and ring right?

Changed the normal.prof.xml to that, and all the InitVol's to 5.

yeh i think so since those are my settings you should be able to find your own xml files in the IPSM/Application Data/Profiles directory so you can edit those instead, note, it will only create xml files for profiles you have modified using settings.

yeah, but if i edit the normal profile even if i turn up all the volumes, the xml will look like this:

<characteristic type="Normal"><characteristic type="Registry">

  <characteristic type="HKCUControlPanelProfilesNormal">

 	 <parm name="Name" value="Normal"/>

  </characteristic>

  <characteristic type="HKCUControlPanelSoundsRingTone0">

 	 <parm name="Script" value="apw3r"/>

  </characteristic>

  <characteristic type="HKCUControlPanelSoundCategories">

 	 <characteristic type="Ring">

    <parm name="InitVol" value="0"/>

 	 </characteristic>

 	 <characteristic type="Alarm">

    <parm name="Script" value="f1m200t20pw2rc120w10t20pw2rc120w10t20pw2rc120w10t40pw2rc120w10t60pw2rw10t120

w2rw10f0"/>

    <parm name="InitVol" value="0"/>

 	 </characteristic>

 	 <characteristic type="Notification">

    <parm name="Script" value="p"/>

    <parm name="InitVol" value="0"/>

 	 </characteristic>

 	 <characteristic type="System">

    <parm name="InitVol" value="1"/>

 	 </characteristic>

  </characteristic>

	</characteristic>

</characteristic>

So i edit the xml, setting all volumes to 5 and adding the vibrate part etc, and when i try to call the phone, its still silent and with no vibrate.

only fix that works temporarily is to reset the profile to default from the menu, and then not touching the settings. Then it will be at volume 3 but with no vibrate (at least i can hear the phone)

You will need to switch out off the profile and back in again otherwise the xml file wont be processed, you might even have to restart the phone!

Hey fellas!

I amde mine work without all that stuff! :lol:

Under profiles, I said "restore to default settings" or something like that...

then back to homescreen, wait a little while, enter profiles again, and started messing around!

Mine doesn't go silent anymore! Unless I hack off "silent profile" of course ;)

It MAY work.. it did for me :lol:
