Guest morpheus Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 How do I keep the backlight on for longer than the default? And how do I stop the SPV from changing to a blank screen? ;) Oh yea, are there screensavers :?: --------------------- Stop the bugs from closing in please !
Guest Emad Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 No screensavers - look in power management.. Also, you can use pauls torch tool ;) look for it in the software forum..
Guest awarner [MVP] Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 Pauls tourch is just a joke by paul ;) The backlight problem is a pain but the DK update does not appear to have it  Screen saver is just a way of saving power by turning the display off (Black diplay)
Guest pjc Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 you can set the backlight to stay on permanently, this is handy for watching mpeg when the file is longer than the default backlight time. Look in programs --> settings --> power management. The screen saver will also save your screen burning the image of your home screen (not a problem if you change your home screen alot!)

Look in programs --> settings --> power management. This does not always work  on most phones this feature does not work but on a few it does :?: I have the DK update and the mediaplayer backlight bug is still there  but I have not tried the powermanagement settings since upgrading. I'll give it a go later and report back ;)
Guest mik_an Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 After the Danish update the light stays on if you change the settings as described, but you will have to set screensaver mode to none otherwise it will go off when it is activated. ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 You don't get screen burn on TFT's do you?
Guest HelloDave Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 No, not on TFT's - the reason you get it on CRT's (as I understand it!) is because if the phosphor coating at the front of the tube that radiates light gets hit by the same stream of electrons for too long it gets "burned", and so a ghost image permanently appears on the CRT. I think it's less of a problem on modern CRT's though. TFT displays don't suffer from it becuase there's nothing to burn - the backlight is the component that emits light, and the liquid crystal pixels either let it pass or block it - you never see a digital watch with screen burn! TFT's do suffer from dead pixels though ;)
Guest Monolithix [MVP] Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 Exactly. So, pjc: the only use for the screensaver is to save you battery life, not the screen quality ;)
Guest pjc Posted January 30, 2003 Report Posted January 30, 2003 ...and there I am worrying about burning a particularly good looking home screen permanently on to my display! ;) Cheers for the info guys!
