2 Q's: Date Entry Fields and Antenna Bars

I have two questions for the experts here:

Date Entry Fields: no calendar popup?

Is it possible that the windows mobile designers simply forgot to add a calendar widget to date entry fields? E.g. when you create a new task, and want to set the due date (or the reminder date) you have to exactly know the date and enter it! Even in Windows CE 2.1 there was a small calendar popping up where I could choose a date which is much simpler....or am I missing something here?

Antenna Bars

Under bad receiving conditions finding a good place is vital. But the antenna bars on top of the screen seem to update only every 15 seconds or so. I found that using /windows/testmode.exe (pressing 1 for two times Debug -> Basic Information) you get a very precise reception readout in negative dB (e.g. -95 is good, -108 is bad) in the second line which updates every second. Has anyone found a way to read out this value e.g. in a homescreen plugin?
