Guest andygold99 Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I have looked on the web for one and everywhere is saying 3/4 weeks. Is there anywhere you can recommend to get one before xmas apart from Ebay?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 It seems they are super hot property, and sold out everywhere but eBay in my experience! P
Guest tsutton Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 The reason why you can't find any is because they've stopped doing the 4GB version. ASUS is preparing to sell the 8GB EEE which is due to be released in Q1 2008.
Guest Monolithix Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Roll on the 10" screen version :(
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 Er, I'm 99.9% sure they haven't stopped production of it, in fact there is gonna be a cheaper 4GB and a 2GB version too? Amen to the 10" screen, that would be a truly amazing machine then! P
Guest tsutton Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I read somewhere, saying that. *shrugs*
Guest Dr Who Posted December 14, 2007 Report Posted December 14, 2007 I read somewhere, saying that. *shrugs* Thought it was to be released but not as the EEE???
Guest A7x Posted December 15, 2007 Report Posted December 15, 2007 White 4GB Eees with webcam and 512 ram are available from Toys R Us in Harlow Essex. They have 'Loads' and you can reserve by phone. Cost: £219
Guest andygold99 Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 If anyone is interested - PC World Tottenham Court Rd has the 2GB Surf version £199.99 in stock as of today. You may have to ask for one as they are not on display yet. Intel Celeron M Processor 512 MB Memory ASUS Linux OS 2 GB Flash Hard Drive 7" Widescreen Display No webcam
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 I think it's worth the extra 20 quid for the 4GB if you're using anything other than the base distro, but for the inbuilt Xandros non-power use only, 2GB is probably OK! P
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 17, 2007 Report Posted December 17, 2007 No webcam is a shame tho... P
Guest Monolithix Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 I'd say 20 quid for the extra 2GB and webcam is worth it any day!
Guest Zim Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 Just got a black one from Micro Ankika on tottenam Court road. £219 Zeem
Guest fantom4 Posted December 18, 2007 Report Posted December 18, 2007 I got mine from Toysrus in Wakefield and it is the type with one one mini pci express port. Also do not been fooled by ebay seller offering 1gb sodimm for £29.99 ish as they only cost half that at ebuyer.com etc
Guest kevin666 Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 2gb version available for £195 at Ginger6: http://www.ginger6.com/asus-2gsbk004-black...il-p-30017.html
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted December 19, 2007 Report Posted December 19, 2007 Not bad! I think the sweet price point is £150 for the 2GB and £200 for the 4GB (all in) personally... well, £149.99 and £199.99 :( P

Guest Kaiser Wilhelm II Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 Er, I'm 99.9% sure they haven't stopped production of it, in fact there is gonna be a cheaper 4GB and a 2GB version too? Amen to the 10" screen, that would be a truly amazing machine then! P I think 10" would require a different case though - I'll bet Asus could fit a ~9" 1024x600 screen onto the current model without too much bother. Team up a slightly bigger screen with more real estate along with the next Intel CPU/chipset, keep the price low (250-300 quid) and Asus would have a world beater IMO.
