Activesync won't connect via USB

I hope someone can help me with this, it's driving me mad. I have a MDA Vario II and I can't connect to Activesync via USB. I've tried everything without success:

• I can connect via Bluetooth (but I need to connect by USB to upgrade to WM6)
  
• I've tried on different PCs with different cables
  
• I *can* use the phone as a modem via USB, and it will charge via USB
  
• I've hard reset, made no difference
  
• I've unchecked the 'Enable advanced network functionality' box on the USB to PC settings
  
• I've tried using Activesync 4.2 and 4.5
  

Now I'm completely stuck. Any ideas at all?

Stand easy, it's working now. Going to bed frustrated but waking up with renewed optimism was all it took to get the damn thing working. And perhaps a couple of dodgy cables were the problem too.

Welcome to the forum and I'm glad you got ActiveSync working eventually :(

As you suggest, cables are one of the first things to look at along with USB hubs and firewalls. Swearing and banging things on the desk are never helpful as we all can testify. A good night's sleep and rebooting everything in the morning usually works for me !
