On a WM6 BJII, can we make the bluetooth headset button activate Voice command?

Not working for me so far.

OK I just figured out that its working. Must have been the reboot I did. Now, as long as voice command is running in the background, a press of the bluetooth headset button activates voice command using the bluetooth headsets mic. Works like a champ!

Now I just wish I could get voice command to automatically run after a reboot. That, along with a few other apps. Is this possible?

On my Cing 3125, it automatically set itself up to run on startup. But if your's isn't, check that there is a "Voice Command.lnk" in your /windows/startup folder. If not, make a txt file, and make the contents this:

56#"\Program Files\Voice Command\VoiceCmd.exe"

Change the directory according to where you have it installed. Save the file as "Voice Command.lnk" in your /windows/startup folder. Ensure that "hide file extensions for known file types" is not enabled on your file browser as it will save it will still be a text file instead of a .lnk (shortcut) file. Then reboot and you should be good.

You're right. Its starting automatically. Thanks for the pointers. Im going to try to see if I can get omapclock to start automatically and run at 276MHz. I need to see how to pass command line arguments to it when it runs. Thanks for the help.

Well I figured that out. Make a .lnk in \windows\startup\ called OmapClock.lnk and use the following line:

44#"\My Documents\OmapClock.exe" -clock 276

The only think is that Im not sure about that 44# stuff. I used 44 because the most recent .lnk was voicecommand and it had 43# so I just used 44#. Anyways, after reboot I was set at 276MHz.

Thanks everyone.

I'm fairly certain that number is for the operating system to identify which icon to load for the .lnk. Since it's just a startup shortcut and your not putting it in your start menu or anything, even if the number is wrong, it really shouldn't have any effect as you never really need to see the icon...

But just to let you know, on my phone, it's 31. Should be the same for you...

I take it back, it's working perfectly! I must have not hit the button properly the first few times. Thanks for making me look at it again! :D

Now if only I could make it work as easily without a headset :(

I set mine to work with a speed-dial entry since I miss my App key activation on the BJ1. Now I just hold #8 for speed dial and it "dings" for activation. A little kludgey but works better than using a 2-key punch with the Fn key + something else.

Hello, I bought Voice Command and tried to install it on my AT&T BJ II, but it keeps saying that my device is not supported or something to that effect. How did you get voice command to install on BJ II ? Kindly help out a newbie. Thank you for your help.

My guess is that you bought it from Handango.com which does say that Voice Command is not supported... I've been running it since the second day I had my BJ2. Trust me it works and it works GREAT.

I simply downloaded the install file and ran it. Works like a champ. I'm running a homescreen with Facade support (Prosper's Blue Sphere homescreen) and I've edited the pointers in the xmp file to start Voice Command). The default icon doesn't look good so I made a new one - unless you're fairly talented with photoshop that's probably not going to be something you want to tackle, but the oversized icon works just fine too.

As long as my keypad isn't locked I double down click the wheel and hit the center button and VCommand pings in waiting for my words.

Just like butter. The only problem is that now my wife wants one.

these voice command programs are not stock programs on the BlackJackII correct?

If not, can somebody post some links to get some good voice command programs?

I have just installed WMS Smartphone on my Blackjack II i617. This group has helped me immensely for installation, thank you! At this point I am able to activate the voice command using FN Z (thought this would be the easiest). I hear the Voice Command "lady" through the Blackjack II ONLY, not my wireless headset (Plantronics 520). Can any one tell me how to get the command through to the headset and if there is an easier way to activate Voice Command other than my FN Z shortcut. If you know, please talk to me like a 3 year old, I have been unable to understand how to access Program Files if need be, i.e. Code 56#"ProgramFiles\Voice Command etc. stated on this site. HELP!

FYI, I found that VoiceCommand won't work reliably, or sometimes at all, if I am overclocking the phone. This is true wheter I am using the phone or a bluetooth headset to speak to it.

So I run it overclocked when I'm browsing etc, and 'downshift' to normal when I am going to be making a bunch of calls.

Is there a way to get the commands & sounds through the bluetooth when it's turned on??

Also, what is the record button on the bjII? or the app1,2,3,4 keys? Can't figure out a way to launch it from a button

I have VoiceCommand working great from the phone itself and my JawBone bluetooth headset. When I first loaded it I thought it wasn't working but I didn't realize that the volume was all the way down on my BK2. doh...

Interesting side note about the Microsoft link posted above... under the product specific support it says this about the Samsung BlackJack from Cingular yet we can get it working on the Blackjack II.

" Samsung BlackJack from Cingular

Voice Command 1.6 bluetooth functionality does not work properly on the Samsung Blackjack. It is not possible to initiate a voice command interaction using the headset, and it is not possible to receive audio announcements through the headset on this device. "

I had it working the other night...

and then I reset the phone & reinstalled it...and I get no sound at all from the program. On the phone or on the headset.

Kinda baffled...

Need a little help here, I can get the voice command to listen through the headset (Jabra 250) but after I say "call blah-blah" the contacts info is displayed then it cancel beeps and no call is made. Is my headset just too old?

EDIT: When I say "play " it begins TCPMP and the correct artist starts playing, through the device speaker. However if while the song is playing I press the headset button on the Jabra 250 it starts listening for a command, the little mic icon shows up, and the song is routed to the headset instead of the device speaker. As soon as VC stops listening it returns to the device speaker. Do I need a hack of some kind? LostSoul, I know you know.

I've had such a mixed bag of results using an Orange TyTn II - my Jawbone BT headset worked out of the box, including VC 1.6 activation from the headset button right up until I did a soft reset. Now, no matter what I do, it sometimes works and then stops.

So, my solution is a simple one, I've put BTVoiceCommand.exe in my programs folder and allocated it to the voice command button. When I press the button on the phone, it triggers BTVoiceCommand.exe and off it goes. No problems.

Many people mention that VoiceCommand.exe should be running "in the background", so I've tried putting it on \Windows\Startup. But, it seems to me that the program is a one off runner - it doesn't appear to be capable of running in the background, it runs, recognises some speech and terminates. The whole problem seems to revolve around how to trigger a piece of software whenever the call button on the headset is pressed. This *should* be straightforward and not related to speech - i.e., why not trigger your contacts when you press the button - but it doesn't seem to be!

Am I missing the point?

:D
