Still Trying To Get TouchFlo To Work

I'm still trying to figure out why I cannot get the TouchFlo up gesture to work on my TyTN II. I'm trying to use TouchCommander, but also installed and looked at Slither's Cube. I absolutely cannot get the up gesture to open either software. Once running on the screen, TC and Slither's Cube work with left, right and down gestures, but not the up gesture.

I've concluded that somewhere along the line I 'broke' something on my TyTN. Can all of you who have successfully installed and are using either TC, Slither's Cube or duttythroy Cube tell me what apps are in your Startup folder? Other than a shortcut to start FTouchFlo is there another (or different) TouchFlo app in the Startup folder? Also, can you tell me what version of FTouchFlo you have installed? I see versions 1.0, 1.1, 1.2,1.3, 1.4 and 1.4.1 are available.

While I am able to use TC by mapping a softkey to it, I really would like to figure out how to use the up gesture to start the app.

Thanks in advance.

Man, is no one using one of the 3 TouchFlo apps I listed???? I'm just trying to figure out why I can't get the up gesture (open) command to work. Please, please, please, just tell me what files are in your Startup folder. Then I will stop bugging you all :( .

Hi I'm using Slithers cube and FTouchFlo 1.41.

Have you got Adobe Flash Lite 2.1 installed? Slither cube wont work without that. I had similar prob with getting the cube started, turned out the FTouchFlo config file wasn't pointing towards the correct flash file for the up gesture

The FTouchFlo config txt file from 'Slither's Cube Launcher Version 1.51 - Final.zip' reads:

DownUpAppCmdLine:"/Program Files/SCLPF/Version 1-41.swf

but the in the same folder the file is 'Version 1-50.swf'

So if yours is the same change it to Version 1-50.swf and try that

Thanks for your reply. While I liked Slither Cube, and got it to work (EXCEPT FOR THE UP GESTURE), I prefer TouchCommander.

Please, can you tell me what shortcuts you have in your Startup folder. Also, if you would, please tell me the following settings in your FTouchFloConfig.txt file:

; FTouchFlo configuration file

Delay:100

GestureWaitingDelay:500

I have been able to get the up gesture to work sporadically in TouchCommander, but not well enough that I can use it on a regular basis. I'm wondering if the lines above can be tweaked to improve the up gesture function.

Hi Bob,

I've left mine at the default settings which are you've got. I don't know exactly what Touch commander is but could it be interfering with FTouch Flo? Because isn't it similar? As for start up folder, i don't have anything to do with the cube in the start up folder. I start FTouchFlo when i want it and it keeps running in the background, the up gesture then initiates Flash Lite which in turn starts up the cube.

Sometimes it takes a couple of swipes to get the cube up and sometimes it's first time. I guess i could tweak the config file or increase the sensitivity of touch flo in the settings menu (have you tried that?) but to be honest i've no idea what 'Delay' or GestureWaitingDelay does!

Well, I think I figured it out.

Delay: This setting affects scrolling and selecting in apps, NOT FTouchFlo

GestureWaitingDelay: This setting affects FTouchFlo up/down and left/right motions

I found that changing GestureWaitingDelay to 300 fixed my problem not being able to open Touch Commander or any other TouchFlo app with the down-to-up gesture. That may need tweaking, but right now my down-to-up gesture works 9 out of 10 times. Considering it nearly never worked before this setting has had a major effect on the functionality of the software.

I also changed Delay to 200 because I seemed to get a little better response to scrolling in IE. However, that setting was never a real problem for me, so now I'm just experimenting.

BTW, I also put a shortcut to FTouchFlo in my Startup folder, since I'm almost always using TouchCommander. With FTouchFlo always running, I can start TC with the down-to-up gesture.

I might have the 2 setting functions flipped. I changed GestureWaitingDelay back to 500 and left Delay at 200 and the opening/closing down/up gesture still worked. So I think the functions MAY be as follows:

GestureWaitingDelay: This setting affects scrolling and selecting in apps, NOT FTouchFlo

Delay: This setting affects FTouchFlo up/down and left/right motions

Sorry for the confusion.

Hi Bob,

Please can you tell me why you prefer Touch Commander?

Thanks,

Chris.

Hi Bob,

I think TC is the most polished of the products I looked at. The last time I checked out some of the 'Cube' versions, while conceptually more pleasing, they all required a lot of manual tweaking (icons often didn't stick; changing 'default' settings required file editing, etc.). TC is very idiot-friendly (that's me! :) ). Now, I haven't looked at some of the Cube apps for over 2 months, so they might be better than TC by now.

One word of caution, the TC software company is VERY UNRESPONSIVE to questions. Their support strikes me as being nearly nonexistent. So, don't count on a lot of help if you have a problem.
