If I connect to my home network over WIFI and search the web am I being charged by T-Mobile in any way? Or if i'm not connected to my wifi and I browse the web by useing edge. Am I being charged?

WiFi is always free as long as you can connect to the network but in order to use edge you must sign up for the 19.99 a month data plan,there is now way u can use edge without it so u won't be billed for something you didn't want.

I am on a family plan. My GF just got a sidekick with the 20 dollar data plan. I didn't think that data plan would work for me but maybe it does. Because I am able to connect using edge and surf the net. Can anyone confirm that you only need one data plan for an entire family plan?

I've started getting randomly spotty edge recently. I have no data plan.

I used to have a data plan. When I did we had a seperate data plan on each phone (we have a family plan). Family plan data sure would be nice! I don't think there is such a thing :/
