Guest Restorer Posted December 26, 2007 Report Posted December 26, 2007 I have the backlight on my Orange TyTNII set to go off after 2 minutes "if device is not used". This works fine except during phone calls where it ignores this and goes off anyway. Is there another setting I am missing somewhere?
Guest hotphil Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Check out the Wiki at http://wiki.modaco.com/index.php/HTC_Kaiser for the registry tweak for this and some other bits.
Guest Restorer Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Thanks for that link. Looks to be some good tweaks there. Unfortunately I can't get the best free registry editor that seems to be recommended on here (CeRegEditor) to edit any of the keys in HKLM/Drivers. I just get access denied. The program contains an unlock tool but that didn't work either. The HKLM/Software folder takes edits no problem. I tried also MRE but that won't ket me edit any keys at all! Is there something else that unlocks these reg files on the Kaiser? I will try one that works from the phone itself (PHM) to see if this is maybe a Vista thing - though I understand this program is pretty buggy and I would prefer the ease of editing from the PC. Thanks again.
Guest mandt Posted December 27, 2007 Report Posted December 27, 2007 Try Total commander, an excellent File explorer and registry editor in one (for your PPC) Oh and did I mention it's FREE :(

Thanks for the link. I will take a look at that too - though it seems to be one that runs from phone not PC?
Guest mandt Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 Yeah it does run from the Phone, although I find that easier.
Guest kjt57 Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Yeah it does run from the Phone, although I find that easier. I am a complete novice to smart phones. It is annoying when the screen goes blank during a call. Can someone explain what I need to do. I looked at the tweek in WIKI but its double dutch to me.... We all have to learn.....

If not then you really shouldn't touch it as you can brick your phone. If you do know what the registry is then tweak 2.2.7 tells you how to fix your problem.

I have edited the registry on my laptop, but never on a phone. I have downloaded Total commander but do not know where to start. any advice please
Guest Confucious Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 OK, provided you are happy editing the registry, at what point are you having problems? Can you find the registry editor in Total Comander (I've never used that particular one)? Can you find the key that needs changing? At what point do you find that you are totally lost ?(once you get lost it can seem imposible but hopefully we'll point you in the right direction!)

Have not used this program eather, not very clear, cannot find reg editor in this program Is there a better reg editor you would recommend?
Guest Confucious Posted December 30, 2007 Report Posted December 30, 2007 I use the Resco one that comes with Resco Explorere but phm is free http://www.phm.lu/Products/PocketPC/RegEdit/
Guest mandt Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 In Total Commander hit the \\ at the top of the tree a couple of times to access the registry, LAN and ftp functions, the registry on WM devices follows the same structure as a desktop PC so you'll feel right at home I also use Resco and it's registry editor but TC is an excellent, and free, alternative
Guest Confucious Posted December 31, 2007 Report Posted December 31, 2007 Free is the word most of us like to hear :( Which is one of the reasons i joined MoDaCo Plus - 'coz Resco is free if you join together with lots of other goodies!
