Guest domenico_169 Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 So i am just playing around with the phone because i am waiting for a unlock code, but anways, when i try to put certain files on my phone they will not show up. The files i am trying to add are things like opera, the gps fix, sda unlocker. If i put the zipped files on the phone it will unzip but they will nowhere to be found. if i put the allready unzipped files in, same thing, cant find them anywhere. any ideas? if i put normal files like music, ect it will work
Guest jwolf24601 Posted December 28, 2007 Report Posted December 28, 2007 The BJ2 only shows file types it supports. So my only guess is that you are trying to use unsupported file types.
Guest jdm0830 Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 i also got that problem. im trying to put .cab file and they dont show up my H/W is REV0.3 also i just got my phone a cuople days ago, so maybe some update or something? Juan
Guest thelostsoul Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Copy the files to /windows/start menu and they will be in your start menu. Copy the files to your My Documents (or anywhere else) folder (first directory that opens when you click "Explore in ActiveSync" and you'll have to go to Start - Applications - File Explorer and navigate to your /My Documents (or wherever you put them) folder where the files should be. The "My Stuff" application is not the file explorer.
Guest gsr264 Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 If you go through the "My Stuff" link in the Start menu it won't show. Go to the "Applications" folder and use the File Explorer. It'll show the .cab
Guest Dangelica Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 I don't know if this will help anyone but I found it useful. I have programs installed on my memory card that I wanted to use but had no icon for them. Same issue as those above. Instead of copying the program there, create a shortcut and place it in the folder you want it to show up on. In this case it was the applications folder. Thanks thelostsoul for your tip wouldn't have thought of it. Wonder if it will let me add folders and rearrange things.
Guest thelostsoul Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Modifying files in the /windows/start menu folder will allow you to add or remove start menu items, but not rearrange. To rearrange items, you will need to modify some values in the registry. If you'll note, most applications that are preinstalled are sorted in a specific order, then below that, anything you installed is sorted alphabetically. This is because the location of those preinstalls applications are defined in the registry. They can be modified, but I don't recall the location of these. I'll post it if I come across it or if you really want it....

MobileRegistryEditor and follow the directions from this thread works like a charm. http://www.modaco.com/content/Samsung-i617...nu/#entry866877 I added a folder called junk so I could dump all the ATT stuff I don't use in the start menu folder and moved all the shortcuts there. Placed a link in the registry at the very end. Just in case I ever need it. Wish they could have that simple little hide icon that blackberry does.

Guest thelostsoul Posted March 4, 2008 Report Posted March 4, 2008 How do I create a shortcut? When I use my PC to browse files on my phone, I can't see the Windows folder? How can I create a shortcut? THanks! Using your PC, first close all folder windows on your PC. Now you need to go to start - control panel - (switch to standard view on the left) - Folder Options. Then go to the View tab and scroll down looking for a checkbox labeled "Hide hidden files" - uncheck that. Click Apply and OK. Now you should be able to see the Windows folder and it's contents. Also note that when you first open the exploring your device window, it shows your My Documents folder. You have to click the first icon, "My Windows-Mobile Based Device" to get at the root directory, which is where the Windows folder is. To create a shortcut on your PC, simply right click on the file, click copy. Then right click where you want to put the shortcut and click "Paste shortcut".
