Guest wnyzfinest Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 running windows xp home sp2 on eeepc 2gb surf at first i changed the common files folder to the SD card and Program Files,, I had 1GB Freed up, now i have 100mb free, any suggestions on moving over files/folders from WINDOWS safely into SD Card
Guest EdinKali Posted December 29, 2007 Report Posted December 29, 2007 Make sure you have disabled the swap/page file. That will take up a ton of room if you don't disable it, not to mention it has been said that excessive writes can be bad for your SSD(see your eee XP install instructions on how to disable it. Also, if you haven't done so already, try slimming down your XP install by using nLite. Running some tests on a 2G partitIon on another computer I got my XP install down to 472M(250M on the install CD) but that is without SP2 and patches installed yet. Adding Word and Excel bumped it up to about 650M. I would guess that with SP2 and patches it would be close to 1G which should leave a gig for storage and other programs.
