Its upgrade time and I am looking for a replacement for my M3100, I'd like preferable a windows based phone with good internet browser as this one seems a little out of date now, decent camera, be nice if it had a qwerty keyboard and not too large!

What would u guys recommend?...

The obvious answer is the Kaiser, sold on Orange as the TC TyTN II.

it's the successor to the M3100 so pretty much the same format but with WM6, 3MP Camera, twice the RAM/ROM, and integrated GPS :(

the browser's the same though

Thanks for the reply Mandt!

Few questions from there.

I noticed while browsing for a new phone the touch dual which doesn't have a qwerty but the reviewer on coolphones.net as I am, was a qwerty man but the input method used on this phone changed his opinion, has anyone else used this phone and how do you find the 16 key pad?

He also says that it has a flash player which is an excellent addition to the browser, but is this something I can download for the TyTN II or M3100?

Also, what would u say other than the keypad and gps are the main differences between the dual and the TyTN II?

And is the touch software on the touch dual much better than using the standard O.S?

Thanks again guys!

Hi Deano

I had an HTyTN which I think is the same model and last week migrated to the HTC Touch. I can thoroughly recommend it, has a great form factor, very light and easy to use.

Main issues are no 3G so if you are doing a lot of surfing over non mobile sites then this may be an issue for you and no keyboard.

I thought that I would miss the QWERTY keyboard but after a few days of practice with Touchpal, I am typing faster than on the keyboard with my old HTyTN and without the hassle of pulling out the keyboard every time. I would therefore even question the need for a Dual but to be honest not got in one my hands just yet so cannot comment on the extra size/weight in comparison to the Touch.

If you are due for an upgrade then the only point to make is to ensure that you go for the HTC Touch Enhanced version as there is double the memory on the orginal HTC Touch. Memory for me is tight but for me not insurmountable. You can of course load more applications on the SD Card.

For information I have the following apps loaded on the phone:

SPB Mobile Shell

Pocket Informant (plus 6 months data)

SPB Backup

Touchpal

Splash id

Best of luck in making your choice

Just to clarify Kaaeed is refrerring to the original Touch, not the dual

The Dual does have 3G, but a biggies are No WiFi, and no GPS, which could be a problem for some; especially if you do not have unlimited data

Although I've not used the dual myself I do have the original Touch, and the OS' of both are pretty similar with the exception of the cube, the Touch Dual has some additions to this, mainly HTC Album and Action screen. (Both found on the web for installing on other devices easily enough) I would advise going to a Phone shop and testing the keyboard on a Dual to see how you get on with it.

I think in essence it depends what you prefer, the Dual is the cooler phone, the Kaiser has all the features but in a more PDA-like package.

They both share the same processor and have the same memory capacity so if you can live without the Wi-Fi and GPS, and get on with the keyboard then go for the Dual. If you want it all then the Kaiser is the one to go for
