Home screen Freezing when on stand-by

Hey All -

I have recently had my ATT Tilt freeze when leaving it on, while charging overnight. The only software I have installed prior to this issue coming up, is a version of Tom Tom 6 from the HTC website. I still need to purchase the north america map, so I have not gotten this software running. The one thing I did notice is that the MSI for Tom Tom did not give the option to install to the storage card, which I expected. Never the less, I still have approximatly 60 MB of free program space.

Another unrelated question I have relates to storing the internet chache of files to the storage card. Is there a registry edit that will allow this? I had this on my 2125, and I would like to keep the memory on the device as free as possible.

- Thank you to anyone that can offer some advise.

Another app that I had recently installed was Batti.

I bet it's Batti. I have never tried it but every time I've heard "batti" mentioned it's been accompanied with "I've just installed it and my device is crashing" or "crashes my device" "has now been removed and the crashing has stopped" :(

Eww... really? I really enjoy this app! OK, time for some testing...

My phone also "crashes" occasionally which is nearly always overnight when it happens; leaving it looking like the screen is a bit messed up. I just thought it was a feature and pressed the reset.

Having read this I also have Batti installed. I also really like it, but might uninstall it to see if that fixes the crashing...

Yep, I removed it, & installed pBar, which has a nice battery indicator. From XDA-Dev:

I read so many topics like this, but I use Batti on EVERY device of mine and NEVER have overnight lockups!

Paul,

Maybe it has something to do with the order of things you have installed/location/etc... I just read your post of installing anything that runs at startup to the main memory. I cannot remember which I had installed Batti to, but if I followed my own pattern, I would have installed anything that would let me; to the storage card. I am a guy coming from the 2125/tornado handset which had practically no internal memory, so everything went to the storage card that would go.

Ah... I ALWAYS install Batti to internal memory, and virtually immediately after hard restting a device.

Batti probably would have prompted you, so that could be an issue?

It is a non-issue for me now that I have pBar installed, but it may be why some people have this issue. I will keep in mind your practice of installing apps that run at startup to the device tho!

I would never install anthing that is permanently resident (ie runs in background 24/7 or is a today plug in) to the storage card.

(I have had batti on my last four or five devices and its never been the cause of any issues)

Batti is internal memory installed on my Kaiser. So that's not the answer.

However thanks for the tip on the pBar, I'll give that a go.
