Guest petec500 Posted January 2, 2008 Report Posted January 2, 2008 Having bought a Sony micro hifi with Bluetooth recently, i've been enjoying being able to play music from my HTC Touch through it using A2DP - works brilliantly. This got me thinking though - even with an 8GB card on order for my Touch, i'd really like to be able to stream my entire music collection from my PC (which has a Bluetooth adapter), or better still, stream internet radio over Bluetooth to the hifi Anyone know if/how this is possible?
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 How about Orb for that purpose? P
Guest petec500 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Thanks for the suggestion Paul - just had a look at the website and although it looks like a great service and one that i could use in other situations (looks like a free Slingbox!), i cant see that it will work over A2DP. The hifi works like a pair of A2DP headphones - you have to stream music to it from the source, like i've done with the Touch. So, i was hoping to get iTunes to play out over Bluetooth to the hifi in a different room from the PC. I've got 1-2-Remote on the Touch, which works brilliantly at controlling iTunes over Wifi, so i'm now looking to stream the audio over Bluetooth so i can control and listen to iTunes from a different room. All a bit complicated, but i love technical challenges like this!!
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Orb plays via Windows Media Player IIRC, so it should work fine over A2DP. P
Guest petec500 Posted January 3, 2008 Report Posted January 3, 2008 Thanks again - but i got it all working this evening. Bought a new bluetooth dongle with A2DP support and paired it up with the hifi and bingo - streaming stereo. Reception is a bit hit and miss - i need to put the dongle on an extension lead and play around to get the best signal, but... it's working!! And i can control it remotely using wifi from my Touch. Sorted!
