453 error invalid SMS number

I purchased a new unlocked T-Mobile Shadow on e-bay and everything works great with my AT&T SIM except that I get a text message every time I power on the phone with the following error: 453 error invalid number. Please resend using a valid 10 digit mobile number or valid short code.

So some application is trying to send a text every time I power the phone on, to the following invalid number 1121611611.

I am able to send and receive SMS text messages as well as connect via GPRS/Edge. Only thing that does not work is MMS messages, but that uses the data network. I even tried virus detection software, thinking it was a virus that was sending out SMS messages. But it found nothing. As long as I do not restart the phone it's fine, but everytime the phone starts I get that error SMS message. Does anyone out there know what is happening and how I can fix this?

Have you checked the Add/Remove Programs tool - either on the phone or in ActiveSync - to see what third party software might have been installed that would do this. I don't think I've heard of anything that sends text messages back to base rather than using GPRS etc.

I would definitely recommend doing a hard reset when buying second hand and that should hopefully clear this problem

I have tried this with no success. I am completely baffled. It seems like something is sending a text to that invalid number every time the phone is powered on. If I power the phone on more than once in a day I get that error message text each time.

If a hard reset won't clear it then I'd send it back for refund / replacement :(

Do a hard reset - you don't know what the previous owner has installed on the phone!

Sounds to me like it might be this, http://freddyreyes.com/index.php?option=co...amp;topic=129.0. It is a program that if your phone is stolen it sends out a text to a number with all the new info about the phone on every boot up!

Hey, I have the same problem. I looked all over the net and others have similar problem with that 453 error. I speculate that its some sort of hand-shaking native with T-Mobile. Because I too have an unlocked Shadow and using it on AT&T's network. I really have to figure this out because I'm getting charge 10 cent for each of those. If you find a solution please share it, I'll do likewise.

I'm back. Last night while trying to fix that problem. I installed SDAUnlock. And before I can implement anything, I realized that somehow made that weird text message on boot-up went away! I don't know if you have done that yet ? Good luck!
