Guest gmankelow Posted January 5, 2008 Report Posted January 5, 2008 I am considering moving to XP but I love the boot speed and app opening times in the easy mode linux that comes with the eee pc. I have a 4g version. Can anyone tell me what the performance is like under xp over linux. Thanks Gordon

I have a 4g version. Can anyone tell me what the performance is like under xp over linux. Thanks Gordon My slimmed down install of XP on a 4G surf boots faster than my 2G surf running advanced desktop. Even with no swap/page file, XP seems quite responsive with the default 512M of RAM. From power on to XP desktop is about 40 seconds. Not as fast as Easy mode(20-25 seconds?) but not too bad. Ed Edited January 6, 2008 by EdinKali
Guest Monolithix Posted January 6, 2008 Report Posted January 6, 2008 XP is fine here, the only issues i've had are when you *really* hammer the SSD it gets a little flakey, but i'm pretty sure this is a hardware thing and not XP itself...
Guest ajcend Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 There are a lot of videos on YouTube.com, and I must say that from the ones I have seen, the boot up time of XP on the Asus Eee PC 4GB is pretty fast.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 7, 2008 Report Posted January 7, 2008 Yeah, the Easy Mode is definitely the fastest possible boot tho! P
