wm6 applications

if i update the i600 from wm5 to wm6,will the applications that used to run on it still be compatible with the new os?

lots of apps let me choose the device before downloading them,so when it comes to the i600 they consider it as a wm5 smartphone,right?so if i have it updated to wm6 and then choose it from the app list and download the app,will it still work?
