Guest EdinKali Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Decided to mess around with my new tiny Cirago BT adapter. Tried my BT-338 GPS and with a little config'ing info from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=200142 I was able to get it going. xgps shows the GPS sats and gpsdrive showed my correct location. The maps aren't very detailed though so I'll have to take a closer look to see if I can get better maps for it.
Guest Paul (MVP) Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Nice, might give it a go! How are you finding eeeXUbuntu? Does everything work as desired? P
Guest EdinKali Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Nice, might give it a go! How are you finding eeeXUbuntu? Does everything work as desired? P It definitely needs more work than the default OS but with that comes more capability and security. If you have trouble with shutdown(little LED under the bulb symbol doesn't go off) you need to add a line to the end of /etc/default/halt(rmmod snd-hda-intel), totem wouldn't play my mp3's or divx vids right off the bat(until I installed some other stuff), and there is a timezone bug that creeps up if you are using Ubuntu and Xandros. I've managed to keep it in check somewhat by setting the BIOS and Xandros to local time and by running ntp on eeeXubuntu and setting the timezone to London in the hopes that they will fix the bug before next month when the new time change happens. Wireless works now after installing the wireless driver some nice chap put up. Compiz was buggy(not sure if I did something wrong but they also warned that it might be buggy) so I removed it. When you plug in the power the screen brightness goes to max and there are some other minor issues but no show stoppers. Should be nice when R4 comes out.
Guest EdinKali Posted January 9, 2008 Report Posted January 9, 2008 Figured out the maps bit in gpsdrive, there are two arrow buttons on the left side that allow you to choose a more of less detailed map after you have downloaded that are map from the server.
