Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 Paul, Can you offer some help/advice on this one? I have WMWiFiRouter v0.91. Which worked ok with my work laptop (WinXP). But using Full Xandros desktop on the EEE PC it just says "pending". Did you do anything special? Ive looked at bluetooth and usb tethering, but seems to long winded! Cheers T Like it says in the title... WMWifiRouter + Eee = awesome :) P
Guest steveoidm Posted February 12, 2008 Report Posted February 12, 2008 I have the same thing, did you manage to sort this out??
Guest steveoidm Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Ok, got it to work! 1) Select options, configuration and make sure 'use dhcp allocator' is selected in wmwifirouter. 2) Goto wireless networks on the eee. It should find the wmwifirouter network. Go to its properties. You need to change its mode from auto to ad-hoc. It should now connect.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Yeah i got WMWiFi Router working with Xandros. After two days I managed to get a successful image of the pimped Xandros install. We now have Win XP SP2 installed, with eeectl running it at 900Mhz, and with the graphics tweaks scaling the screen to 800 x 600. Far happier now I can use usb tethering, bluetooth, divx etc
Guest Monolithix Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Hows the battery with the CPU clocked up 900MHz?
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 Hows the battery with the CPU clocked up 900MHz? Actually I haven't benchmarked it. But then again I leave the wifi and bluetooth on continuously. I don't know if you've used the eeectl tool or not, but I've got a shortcut to it in my "startup" directory. It remembers the last setting, but the taskbar app lets you change it on the fly to any setting. It also lets you decide on fan speed, or leave it at auto. Id previously had it running at 900Mhz under Xandros with no noticable difference at all in temp or battery.
Guest Monolithix Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Nope not tried it...think i'll give it a go though! Only seem to be getting 2.5 hours or so under XP (although i believe thats due to an issue with the way the webcam is handled via the USB bus), so will have a play :)

Only seem to be getting 2.5 hours or so under XP (although i believe thats due to an issue with the way the webcam is handled via the USB bus), so will have a play :D I think there's a thread at eeeuser.com with a 'fix' for that issue, or at least the webcam drawing too much power when putting the system to sleep. It involves downloading a windows update and then using a tray app to disable the cam when not needed. I've done the fix and I don't know if it's just placebo but I think it seems to be lasting longer, maybe thats just me having a greater awareness of turning off my WiFi when not in use and lowering my screen brightness in line with the conditions of the room I'm in. :) Also I use eeeclock so that when I start my system it's always at the stock speed but I can set it to 800/900 when I need it or am on mains power. :D
