Newsgator, developers of the fantastic Newsgator Go! for Windows Mobile, NetNewsWire for MacOS and Feed Demon for Windows, today announced their applications are available free of charge to everyone!

While their Windows Mobile client is a little light on features it has the massive benefit of syncronising with your desktop client (Feed Demon or NetNewsWire) and the impressive Newsgator online RSS service. Heres what they had to say:

DENVER, Colo. — Jan. 9, 2008 — NewsGator announced today the general availability of NetNewsWire 3.1, FeedDemon 2.6, and NewsGator Go! for Windows Mobile 2.0. The public beta of NewsGator Inbox 3.0 also began today. The award-winning products for PC (FeedDemon), Mac (NetNewsWire), Microsoft Outlook (Inbox), and mobile (NewsGator Go!) deliver a best-of-breed RSS reading experience that synchronizes through NewsGator’s online platform. All of the new product versions deliver a better user experience with the inclusion of significant performance, usability, and relevance enhancements.

NewsGator also announced that all of its client RSS reader products are now available free of charge and include free synchronization along with other services. Users can now enjoy the great features and performance of all of NewsGator’s Web, desktop and mobile readers for iPhone, Windows Mobile, and BlackBerry (powered by FreeRange), all synchronized to provide the same view of their RSS content no matter when or where they read it. Enterprise customers will continue to enjoy the extended value of having all these clients synchronize with NewsGator Enterprise Server (NGES). The combination of innovative client reader features and the ability to leverage core platform data and capabilities have made NewsGator products dominant in the enterprise.

I'm a massive fan of Feed Demon and its syncing capabilities so this is great news :( Get signed up and downloading everyone!

You're too quick for them Paul :D

I admit it's a little tricky to download the Go! product - but it's worth it! :(

Here are the best steps:

1) Make a free NewsGator Online account first at this page: https://www.newsgator.com/ngs/order1.aspx

2) Go to this page: http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/NewsG...Go/Default.aspx and click the link to download the Windows Mobile version of Go! (if you're still signed in, you go straight to the download page - otherwise you need to click Continue and sign-in)

3) On the download page, just put in the email address you want and select the install type and you'll be able to download the new 2.0 version of Go!

Have fun,

Brian Kellner

Ah, the link names are deceiving... As you might imagine when we were trying to launch four products simultaneously and update the web reader, we had a couple loose ends :( The link names say v1.1.2, but the payload should be version 2.0 :D

We'll get everything tidy in the next couple days. Thx for the feedback!

I got it installed in the end, by clicking the old link, it did indeed install the new version, although it's actually labelled 1.5 rather than 2.0!

A real improvement on the previous version!

Must ask Kevin to get rid of that really annoying BEEP when you click on a feed though!

Just the opportunity I needed to try it again! :(

Trying Newsgator Inbox for Outlook as well.

Newsgator Go looks like a good improvement - runs pretty quickly, certainly quicker than previous versions although my Kaiser might be to thank in part. Can't argue with free either, as my Newsgator account was due for renewal early this year.

Seems a smidgen unstable though - I keep crashing it whenever I go back by using the arrow keys or d-pad.

Seems stable on mine, glad to see timed sync and enclosure support included!

Timed sync is cool.

Might have to find a WiFi scheduler though - I had to ditch TMob and their data plans because of coverage

Hi. Bit of a noob here with the RSS thing...you wouldn't happen to know a more UK based topical one (nothing against the U S of A!) - using Newsgator.

Thanks. :(

What exactly is this program. Just an updated news feed?

Er, Rob, how do you mean? Newsgator is just the reader, you can subscribe to feeds from most sites?

What are you looking for content wise? News?

The mobile version crashed on me 5 times today. Plus it doesnt seem to sync if you exit t program. Back to Newsbreak for me. I like it alot better anyway...just cleaner looking with intuitive menues. Plus it's sync function is called up whether the app is running or not.

I like the idea of the Desktop/Web/Mobile client being in sync....but the mobile version never did it for me. Newsbreak is a better mobile client IMO.

Doesn't it add a menu option or a folder in Outlook?
