Guest Viruss Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 First of all - hello to everybody in the "VOX Modaco forum" :( I just saw the Vox with a very good price and couldn't resist buying it... basically, I'm very happy with the phone, especially the display is just wonderful, but I have one little problem. I'm not a friend of T9/xT9 and sometimes it's just more comfortable to use a classical style of SMS input by multipressing alphanumeric keypad buttons (Abc in input mode selection). The thing is, that with VOX i can't seem to use a "full potential of my well trained fingers" as it takes Vox a good while to switch from the underlined letter which is currently being typed to another, so it sometimes misses a first or first two keypresses when writing the next letter. I guess it has no connection with multipress timeout as it occurs even when trying to write two letters located at different keys. So, changing multipress timeout to however small value (even in registry) seems to have no effect, overclocking seems to have no effect (the CPU load during SMS typing is actually quite low), everything I tried just had no effect. Is anyone experiencing the same problem/found a solution? P.S.: Please, forgive me my poor English. Thanks :D
Guest prajith Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 have you tried reducing the key hold timeout from the registry?
Guest Viruss Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 Thanks for the advice, but it doesn't work. To give you better insight in what I am talking about, here's a result of the "output" when I was trying to write I am trying to write an sms on vox. -> I am trxing to write an rmr on vow. I'm absolutely sure that I made no typing mistake... You aren't experiencing this sort of problems or you are using xT9/QWERTY?
Guest prajith Posted January 10, 2008 Report Posted January 10, 2008 i tried typing the exact same message using the abc mode and i got it all right just so as you know my multipress timeout is 1/4 second and my keyhold time is 1/3 sec
Guest Viruss Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 Well..even with your settings there are no signs of improvement. I even tried to flash an ARA ROM to see if this issue is ROM-related (and I was really happy that I managed to make a dump of the original ROM correctly, so I didn't brick my Vox the same day I bought it, when trying to flash the original ROM back), but it was the same. I have no idea what how to resolve this issue, so for now it seems I must adapt to using xT9/QWERTY all the time :(
Guest jacopastorius Posted January 11, 2008 Report Posted January 11, 2008 same problem happens to me sometimes. I was hoping by flashing ARA rom this problem could be fixed, but it isn't, as you said...
