Windows Mobile Patches?

So with all of the glitches I have already noticed first-hand with this phone (I have the T-Mobile Shadow version), what with the text alert glitches, and especially the alarm problem, I am wondering: do these phones, like a computer, ever get patches/upgrades available to them?

I'm figuring that since the phone is a mini-computer in essence that Microsoft would have patches available for fixing the bugs.

Any idea if this is true and where to find them?

There is a windows update under the settings menu. But I have never seen a update.
