Guest dr_nick Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 infuriatingly, my m600 will never let me update software i have installed. whenever i download an upgrade cab, even ones designed to be installed ontop of the current installation, i get the message current installation must be uninstalled first, to which i respond ok, then it fails to install on top. every time. some programs are not even on the settings/remove programs list, and even those that are are never removed successfully using this tool. SK tools is better, but i have been unabkle to uninstall navizon for and upgrade in this manner. :) can anyone help me? is this an issue with my version or with windos mobile 5 as a whole? is WM6 any better? thanks
Guest Neil5459 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 This was a problem with early versions of WM5. I thought it was fixed with AKU2? Do you know which version you are using? Part of the problem is that the deinstallation of a program will remove some of the registry entries and the antry in Add/Remove, but the installer will not overwrite an existing folder, especially on a storage card. You need to manually remove the folders of applications you have tried to update, then try to reinstall, which should successfully give you the update, plus entries in Programs and Add/Remove. Before any further program updating, remember to remove to previous version manually first using Add/Remove, then deleting the folders (after copying any configuration files to a safe place for later recopying!) Is there an updated ROM for the M600?
