Guest maxluke1 Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 (edited) Hi as you probably all know i am 12 years old and i want to buy an eee pc to run vista, because it is the cheapest and smallest thing i can buy(i like small laptops, the smaller the better!!) my best subject is ICT i would like also to use the eee pc as something i could take apart and tinker with. 1. How easy is it to install RAM?? 2. How much does RAM cost?? 3. Where can i buy it from?? 4. Can you put a bigger hard drive in?? 5. If so can a solid state hard drive be fitted?? Also i need quite a large hard drive, what would be the best external hard drive for under £50??? If I install vista on a eee would i then be able to download windows software, because the hard drive is so small would i have to install apps on a SD card or external hard drive. Will this fit??http://www.memorybits.co.uk/shop/computer-memory/kingston-value-ram-2gb-(2-x-1gb)-dimm-240pin-ddr-ii-400mhz--pc23200-cl3-nonecc-kvr400d2n3k22g/5573 Thanks Max :) Edited January 16, 2008 by maxluke1
Guest Monolithix Posted January 16, 2008 Report Posted January 16, 2008 1: As long as it isn't a Surf version, it's easy (2 screws) 2: £18 or so for a GB, £20-30 for 2GB 3: Nope, the SSD is soldered to the motherboard! 4: n/a :)
Guest hippotech Posted January 20, 2008 Report Posted January 20, 2008 The memory I have used for mine is : http://www.play.com/PC/PCs/4-/3497002/King...ok/Product.html In answer to a couple of your other questions, you can install apps on the SDHC card or an external disk. SDHC is much better as it keeps the unit self contained. Hippo
