Think of it as high tech hide and seek. There are containers hidden all over the world that contain log books. Using the GPS and www.geocaching.com or other services you go to the location and find the "cache" and log your find in the log book as well as online. Because GPS isn't perfectly exact you still have to search some when you get to the location. Often the caches will take you to great locations you might have missed otherwise.
