Guest eman006 Posted January 17, 2008 Report Posted January 17, 2008 For some reaseon, I cannot sync via ActiveSync with the USB cable. It give me the "Retrieving Device Settings" message and then times out saying that it does not detect a device. I uninstalled ActiveSync and then reinstalled (v4.5), but to no avail. I can sync via Bluetooth fine, but can never get it to sync via the USB. Any recommended solutions would be appreciated. BTW, I had this problem when I used to have a BJ-1. Thanks.
Guest mandt Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Have you tried swapping USB cables and/or ports? just s thought......
Guest Disco Stu Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 Are you using a USB hub ? Activesync doesn't like them
Guest eman006 Posted January 18, 2008 Report Posted January 18, 2008 (edited) Are you using a USB hub ? Activesync doesn't like them No. I have a laptop and docking station. Tried connecting to both, and no luck. Disabled a personal firewall and did the trouble shooting, but still no luck. Funny thing is that my BJII shows connected in Activesync, but my laptop still shows the "Retrieving settings..." message. Edited January 18, 2008 by eman006
Guest juscall Posted January 19, 2008 Report Posted January 19, 2008 Do you have a VPN connection on your laptop?? I have to go to admin settings and stop the VPN Service to allow a synch via USB. Just a thought as I had the same problem. Once I am done with the synch, I restart the VPN service.
Guest Terry Austin Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 Just a longshot... Click start/settings/more/connections/usb and make sure that it's set to ActiveSync not something else (like modem). If it's NOT on ActiveSync then you've found your problem. Terry
Guest cali0028 Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 I had the same problem and was not able to sync via bluetooth. But after reading this thread I went to start>admin tools>Services>Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) :) hope this helps someone.

However, I only VPN into my work network at home, and the synch issue that I described is when I'm at work and hooked directly into my work's network. Does this make a difference whether or not I'm VPN'd in or directly hooked into my work network?
