Guest Kenneh! Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 (edited) I've been debating the purchase of one of these eee's for about a week now for use in school. I've got a couple questions though, will it handle a 2 gig pc5300? or no? Also I assume an external USB HD would work with it, no? And assuming that if that works, an external dvd/blu-ray player would work with it for things like games and such... And finally, what sorts of devices come in the form of pciE Mini, as i've only seen bluetooth.... Thanks in advance! Edited January 21, 2008 by Kenneh!
Guest Monolithix Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 2GB: Yes, but not under the default Xandros OS (any other is fine though) USB HDD: Yep, i use 3 with mine :) External optical drive: again, no probs, bear in mind the gaming capabilities of the machine are extremely limited though, Q3A, HL or MOHAA are probably your limits. You may find the EEE struggles to decode HD video too... miniPCIE: You can get HSDPA and SSD cards too!

Very cool, but what i meant by USB HD is an actual external WD 120gig passport to be more precise. Also, the only thing i'd be playing on it is CS 1.6 simply because I play tournaments, so its always nice to have something smaller to travel with. All very useful info though, greatly appreciated, oh and I ordered the black galaxy 4g tonight with a 2gb ram chip from newegg tonight, by Friday it will be running vista, crazy? I think not xD. I should have it on wednesday simply because it was 3 am when i ordered it lol.

Guest barfoo Posted February 18, 2008 Report Posted February 18, 2008 I use a 160gb external hdd with my eee pc and it is fine. The performance when used with xp is amazing!!! much better than my hp pavilion dv6000 that is alot slower and bigger than my tiny little asus eee pc!!!

It won't have fantastic FPS, the 3D support isnt top notch. Yeah it's ok to have a quick blast on, but I wouldn't pin my hopes on winning WCG with it!
