Shortcut to Locking?

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

quick question - I'd like to make a shortcut to lock my phone (replace Contacts with Lock on the home screen) however I can find the script/application to lock the phone. I know how to change the contacts, but I don't know what to replace it with.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Can't help you there. But if you're going to press buttons you might as well HOLD the HOME key down. It will bring you right to the quick list.

or you can set it so that when you slide it closed it'll ask if you want to lock it and if you dont respond within a few seconds itll auto lock

Does anyone know how to change the time-out? I want the phone to auto right away when I close it.

auto-lock that is.

I'm looking for an easier way to lock as well. I've been holding down the home key to get to the quick list then scroll to lock, which is FAR more complicated than necessary.

I just set my shortcut key short press to Quick List. Best solution I've found so far.

Yeah, shame there isn't a better solution. Quick List is far too many extra steps to get to something so important.

I think the keylock is implemented in a dll called the tpcutil.dll and quickapp.exe is the one who knows how to access it. Given that, it might be a little difficult to find a "one key press" to lock the phone. However, I can suggest a two key press hack...not hold, but press....I guess with practice you will get fast with it!

1) Change "Contacts" on the home screen to point to \windows\quickapp.exe

In HKLM\Software\Microsoft\CHome\CClock : SK2TEXT = "Quick List" and SK2URL = "\windows\quickapp.exe"

2) In HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\QuickApp, interchange the values of the keys named "1" and "3". 1 is the Power-off and 3 is the Lock.

Now, on the home screen you press Right Soft Key followed by Center Key...that will lock the phone. I know its not elegant, but probably will get it done faster!!

Hmm, I'll have to try that out! Two key presses is just fine, I'm used to two to unlock. Although I like having contacts there so I might just try doing it using the shortcut key.

Holding down the * key is great if you happen to already have the slider open. But because of that requirement it's not quite as useful.
