Guest Lojt Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 My numbers in outlook are like this: 11 22 33 44 and the SPV doesn't recognize an incoming call with the phone numbers stored in that format. I've tried both reformatting progs, but none of them works... If i put +45 in front of the numbers (im from denmark) it will store them like this: +45 11 22 33 44, so that wont help me much. ;) Anything else i could try? Running outlook XP btw.
Guest madu Posted January 27, 2003 Report Posted January 27, 2003 you need to change number format settings in outlook. don't remmeber where exactly.. search help in outlook (F1) for 'number format' if you can't find where that is.
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 hmmmm I'l have a look for you tonight. Don't have Outlook at work..
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 hmmmm sure i've seen it somewhere, but cannot find ;) have you tried: http://www.modaco.com/viewtopic...utlook+registry
Guest Lojt Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 I dont have location codes on my phone numbers... :?
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 What if you create a number on the phone is it stored as 23456789 or 23 45 67 89 ?? Basically is it outlook that converts it to xx xx xx xx format or the phone (doubt it)?
Guest Lojt Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 It is outlook. If i create a contack on the phone, it stores it with spaces in outlook when i sync, but leaves the number without spaces on the phone.
Guest madu Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 So if outlook does not f**k up numbers on SPV surely this is not much of a problem?>
Guest Lojt Posted January 29, 2003 Report Posted January 29, 2003 Well, yes it is. Cause whenever i do a hard reset and sync all my contacts back to my phone, the numbers will be like xx xx xx xx..... So i could of course change all the numbers on my phone every time i hard reset, but that kinda sucks
Guest madu Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 Let's play Bump'em'up!! ;) Sorry my friend but looks like Hard-Reset'em Up!! Including your phone, your PC and... you name it! he he
Guest AJDuncanUK Posted February 3, 2003 Report Posted February 3, 2003 What happens when you use the orange backup thingy on the phone. Will this not bypass outlook and restore your phone without going near the PC - or am I mistaken as to what Orange Backup provides. :?:
Guest madu Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 AJD - it backs up your data to Orange server and restores it from there. It is not synced, just backed up raw and then restored (not synced) as it was. Keystroke needs to be able to sync. with Outlook without Outlook f***g up his phone entries. Keystroke - that silly face on your avatar is getting to me. My colleagues think that I spend all time at work checking out Simpsons or smthin. He he ;)
Guest Lojt Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 'My cat's breath smells like cat food' ;) btw, you are right about my problem mad
Guest Fuchikoma Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 Yeah...it would be tolerable to change all the numbers to the correct format as long as it was certain that outlook would leave them alone after that. Outlook is very zealous in changing the number formats. Outlook needs to stop that silly behaviour!
Guest dhutchison Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 What version of outlook are you using? If I type the number directly into the relevant field when I modify the outlook contact it doesn't add any spaces. I ignore the formatting that it suggests in the popup box (like area code, etc) and just type the full number in (eg; 0044xxxxx). I've updated the contact address information after this and the number format stays the same, so it is possible. I'm on Outlook 2000 though, so i don't know if a new version has "better" features or behaves in a different way...
Guest AJDuncanUK Posted February 4, 2003 Report Posted February 4, 2003 And I can confirm the behaviour is exactly the same with Outlook 98. Not messed with the registry or anything. When that pop-up telephone number thing popped up I just ticked the 'don't suggest cocking up your numbers again' box and everything works OK. My suggestion with the Orange backup thing was something like this: backup to orange hard reset the phone sync with outlook restore from orange sync with outlook You say above that once the numbers are formatted correctly in the phone syncing doesn't mess them up. So that should work??? Though why you can't make outlook do what you want surprises me. By the way, many thanks to Kiffy for the number converter. Invaluable.
Guest Lojt Posted February 5, 2003 Report Posted February 5, 2003 Just edited all my numbers (phew, took a while :x) and backed all my numbers up... so i guess i can just restore when i hard reset...
