Guest reese48 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 My wife and I both have a BlackJack II. They were purchased from ATT within a month of each other. I purchased Garmin Mobile XT for my phone and it works like a champ. I contacted Garmin to ask them if I can swap the card between 2 phones and they told me that it would be fine and that you can use it on any compatible Smart Phone. The program installs fine on my wife's phone but the program will not open. The black screen comes up and before the "I Agree" screen appears it shuts down. I have uninstalled it several times, rebooted the phone after an install and still to no avail. There is an error log in the Garmin folder on the device. I do not know what to make of it. Maybe someone knows. I would appreciate any help. Guest thelostsoul Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Hmm...that's weird. I think it's safe to say that if it works on your phone still, then it's not the card, and it's most likely your wife's BJII. But I really can't come up with a solution. Is your phone app unlocked? Maybe try app unlocking hers? Use this cab: http://mobile.surrealnetworks.com/SDA%20ap...ksAppUnlock.cab

I didn't have to do this for mine but I will certainly give it a try and let you know the results. Again thanks very much.

Guest thelostsoul Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Hmmm....I want to suggest that you do a hard reset, but I'm guessing your wife wouldn't be too happy about that.......... What other applications are installed on her device?

What other applications are installed on her device? With a hard reset I assume I loose everything? I just installed Google Maps and it works fine with the GPS. I have the MoDaCo GPS activator on it, but I have tried Garmin and Google Maps with it and without it. I doesn't seem to make any difference. The only 2 programs are Garmin Mobile XT and Google Maps.
Guest thelostsoul Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Yes, a hard reset will clear everything. If you're wife's willing, turn off the device, press and hold the up arrow while turning it back on until a screen comes up with instructions to continue. Then release both buttons and follow the on-screen instructions. If not, then the best advice I can give you is try to contact Garmin and send them the log. I can't see any other reason it wouldn't be working, but I also can't read those logs, so...
Guest clapaz Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 The black screen comes up and before the "I Agree" screen appears it shuts down. I have uninstalled it several times, rebooted the phone after an install and still to no avail. i was able to successfully install garmin mobile xt on my bj II and after a while, this same exact thing started happening to me. i did a hard reset and was able to get it working again. i hope it doesn't happen again because i wouldn't want to keep hard resetting my phone. good luck.

Took me a while to figure this one out. I kept getting data type misaglinment until one I i realized taht deleting all the txt messages will fix the problem. I think having more than 20 SMS will cause the error message to display I think there's a bug with the software causing it to display that message. This fix was tested on 2 BJ2 phones.

Nice find. I've never actually accumulated more than 10 SMS on my device at one time, but I have experienced this problem about 3-4 times. Maybe only a few SMS can also cause this problem. Next time I experience this problem using Garmin (which I purchased), I'll try deleting my text messages and will post my results. Last time I experienced this problem, it was shortly after installing Live Search, so I figured that might the problem.

Just make sure to delete all sms in your inbox, sent box, and recycle bin and then try to reload the garmin xt software again. If the program doesnt load, just soft reset your phone and it will. This method was tested on the latest Garmin XT software with latest update.
Guest thelostsoul Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 It seems only the inbox causes this problem for me. I moved all my inbox items to an archive folder, and kept all my sent items (about 330msgs), restarted my phone, and it worked fine. Not sure what causes this at all though....pretty strange bug....
