Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 24, 2008 Report Posted January 24, 2008 Hey folks, Im sure Ive seen this mentioned elsewhere within the Kaiser subforum but couldn't find it. I've noticed that on the Kaiser, when I "soft" press the power button to turn off the screen on the kaiser, that it also turns off WiFi. Every night the phone goes into night mode where there are no email alerts, no sms alerts, no meeting alerts, but the handset will still ring if someone needs to contact me. I also "soft" press the power button to turn off the screen (saves having a bright glow in a dark room!). Since I use Skype in Wifi only mode on the phone, along with email etc. It would be nice to configure it to keep wifi on regardless. Is this configurable??? Lastly what else happens when I press this button to turn off the screen? Does it turn off other functionality which I haven't noticed yet? Cheers WTFH !
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Kaiser Tweak http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333898 Data (GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA/WIFI) - Wifi standby mode Soft reset and your done - Your wifi will be on all the time even during standby unless you switch it off manually. I have mine set up as this. BE WARNED it will drain your battery so best leave your kaiser on the charger throughout the night.
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Excellent, thank you very much. My kaiser is never fetched off charge!!! LOL Its on charge on the bedside table, then I walk downstairs to start work and plug it in on my desk, then when Im in the car it gets plugged in there!
Guest Subliminal Aura Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Just make a habit of turning the wifi on and off. For me I use phonealarm but there are many free and commercial today plugins :) Good luck
Guest WearTheFoxHat Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Yeah I've got phonealarm too. It's great for switching between profiles automatically. I tend to have a general one for normal use, then a timed "work" one, a timed "night" one, and then manually select car etc. I'm still sussing it out a little since alarms don't always work. Just installed KaiserTweak, and it works a treat, thank you.
