Guest oldg1t Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Can someone help me with a small identity crisis I (as a newcomer) am having when I am looking for accessories for my MDA Vario III (fantastic bit of Kit) . When I find a particular bit of kit I want and expand the inevitable "Device" dropdown list I rarely find a Vario III listed. I do find devices such as TyTN II or Kaiser. Also as I am posting in the HTC Kaiser forum you will see that I have worked out that MDA Vario III = Kaiser if for no other reason than my device information tells me that the model No is Kaiser (no flies on me I hear you say). So where (if it does) does the TyTN II come in ? and more important can I use this knowledge when buying accessories online. Not just kit that needs the dimensions to match but stuff (like chargers, batteries etc ) that require the electrical spec to be the same. eg does MDA Vario III = Kaiser = TYTN II Also (less important) whats the history behind all this. Thanks
Guest KevinAlbrecht Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 eg does MDA Vario III = Kaiser = TYTN II Also (less important) whats the history behind all this. Thanks Yes, MDA Vario III = Kaiser = TYTN II. MDA Vario is the branded version of the Kaiser, I believe, and the Kaiser is the official release of the TYTN II. Someone correct me if I have misspoken.. :) ..
Guest Loconinja Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 As I understand it: Kaiser is HTC model name. TyTN II is HTC-branded version. Vario III is T-Mobile-branded version. As far as accessories are concerned, they are all the same.

But if you look for TyTN II or Kaiser, then you've got the right handset.
Guest hotphil Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Also AT&T Tilt and Vodafone V1615 are other branded versions. The AT&T model's useful to know if buying accessories from the US
Guest andrewkeith5 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Basically, HTC called it the Kaiser while it was in development, and its now available in donzens of different branded versions for example: HTC TyTN II, MDA Vario III, Vodafone V1615, O2 XDA Stellar, AT&T 8925 Tilt, etc. Theyre all precisely the same device in terms of hardware, and accessories for one will work perfectly well on the rest - the only differences are the software that is installed by default (and in the case of the MDA the design has been changed slightly
Guest shootydogthing Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Don't forget the P4550 :) Like you're going to find that listed anywhere lol
Guest dolbe666 Posted January 25, 2008 Report Posted January 25, 2008 Don't forget the P4550 :) Like you're going to find that listed anywhere lol P4550 was the HTC model number. all HTC devices have a model number and a model name during developement, both get dropped for the device branded name at launch
Guest Sean Saunders Posted January 28, 2008 Report Posted January 28, 2008 Orange actually advertised it to me as the P4550 when i was on the phone to them, i had no idea what they were on about till i asked if it was the kaiser or not..... they didnt know what a kaiser was until i said TyTN II..... useless sods.
