Guest drummerbones Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I have been trying to find a cure to my problem for a couple days now and I have had absolutely no luck. I have my Blackjack set up to receive email from two gmail accounts, pop3. It receives and sends just fine but the problem arises when I read the emails. After reading an email it removes the email from my phone and I can't view it anymore. Is there any way to get the phone to stop deleting my emails permanently after i read them? They don't even show up in the deleted folder. Thanks in advance for any help.
Guest Terry Austin Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 Sorry, no solution from me, but I'm seeing the same problem. I'd love to find a resolution to this. In your gmail settings on your phone, under messaging... under username add "recent:" without the quotes like recent:[email protected] Gmail will leave your email in your phone then. Guest G35C Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Use Gmail Imap bro... pop3 is sooo 2007!!
Guest crackerjacks Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 I've been having the same problem, but with my home email address. After reading it and keeping it for a day, my email seems to delete itself. I remember this happened on my blackjack I, but I never found a way to stop it.
Guest sfleuriet Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 I was having the same problem. Switching to IMAP on Gmail fixed it. Thanks
Guest thelostsoul Posted March 6, 2008 Report Posted March 6, 2008 GMail shouldn't delete the messages from your entire account. Click "All Mail" in your webmail and see if it's there. If not, then I suggest you use IMAP, because that is how it works with IMAP. Also, for an email client, I recommend FlexMail 4 over the built-in mail system. Either try the current beta or wait for the release.

Can it also be that I have my setting to download the full email and it is automatically deleting read email to conserve space?

For me, when I delete an email using IMAP, the email remains in the All Mail section of my email. So it might not appear in your inbox anymore, but it shouldn't be permanently removing your emails. That should work, but I don't use the internal mail client, so I'm not exactly sure if those options exist.
Guest crackerjacks Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Actually, my email provider only supports POP3... so I guess I can't use IMAP?
Guest thelostsoul Posted March 7, 2008 Report Posted March 7, 2008 Actually, my email provider only supports POP3... so I guess I can't use IMAP? I was _only_ referring to Gmail. I don't know how your service provider works, and therefore can't tell you what to do or try.
