Guest su6oxone Posted January 26, 2008 Report Posted January 26, 2008 I just got a i617 and was looking for the hole to attach my wrist strap/lanyard, but can't find one! Is Samsung trying to emulate Apple by not putting wrist strap attachment holes on the BJII? Please let me know if there is some way to attach a lanyard, thanks!

That's incredible why SS would take off the lanyard loop from the BJ1. I just compare it to Apple b/c that's one of my pet peeves of ipod/iphones.

Guest su6oxone Posted January 27, 2008 Report Posted January 27, 2008 (edited) I'm curious to know what situation would demand use of a strap. Okay... I guess I'm in the minority then. I find a lanyard to be useful to prevent dropping it, especially since it's a smartphone and I am constantly whipping it out during the day while at work, and use it alot "on the go" (e.g. while walking on the street with it in my hand to switch mp3s, etc.). My BJ1 survived without any drops b/c of the lanyard, otherwise it would've sustained a few drops onto concrete in the 9 months I was using it (until I got the BJII). Ah well. I'm trying to see if I can squeeze a lanyard into the "mic grill" above the camera on the back. Edited January 27, 2008 by su6oxone

Maybe you could string it through the small speaker grill on the top, but I imagine the best option may be to superglue a loop to the bottom of the device. It would probably void the warranty, but it may get you what you want.

Might be safer to cut a small pair of holes in the battery cover, thread the lanyad thru them, then seal them with silicone. If there is a problem, a replacement battery door would be cheap and easy to fix compared to the speakers. Yed I think you are in the minority here in the West. In Asia, the 'lanyards' are wildly popular but are used for decoration to 'bling' out your phone, and to attach good luck charms. You see them on every phone, but almost never being used to actually carry or secure it. I've never seen one actually in use in the US, so I guess Samsung is actually listening to it's customers on this. Keep your eyes out for an Asian version later in the year - it might have what you're looking for.
