Guest BMP1199 Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 So I was driving home from school today and turned on GM and noticed the lil blue dot when I was zoomed out and was wondering if I left my GPS on all day. Turns out it was the My Location and I was on an HDSPA tower (3G network)... I'm guessing Google did some updates without actually updating their software... Does this work for anyone else?
Guest thelostsoul Posted January 29, 2008 Report Posted January 29, 2008 Google's constantly working to add more towers to their database. I suspect you'll frequently notice it working in areas that it had not worked before. Unfortunately, this doesn't necessarily mean they added 3G tower support.

I noticed that too. I'm in Chicago and it said 'not supported' or whatever, the first few times I tried it. Then yesterday it magically started working!!! I also noticed (or maybe I'm crazy) that before it said push #s 1-9 to go to each search result (how it was when GMM first came out). But yesterday it said push 4 to go back and 6 to go to the next one... that's how it was on my other phone after I downloaded a new version (many months ago). I think Google changed the software (or I downloaded the not-latest-version and it updated). -Phil

Just checked here in North Essex - and it now works on 3g when it did not before!
