MDA Compact III

Last saturday I went and picked up my new MDA Compact from T-Mobile, I have read the manual cover to cover and spent the best part of the week playing with it and researching it on the net and forums. To be totally honest I am very disapointed with it, theres a few things I do not like at all about this pocket pc phone.

1: Just about every app I have tried to install on it comes up invalid application, not a pocket pc app.

2: There doesn`t appear to be a battery indicator on the desktop

3: Customizings the desktop is rubbish and I cant find any programmes to give me more control, ie: a internet explorer icon would be nice.

I really want to like this pc phone but I am finding myself disliking it with every passing day I own it.

If there is anyone out there who could point me in the right direction or give me some advice I would be very grateful.

Or even any comments from other people using this device.

1. This almost sound like you are trying to run win32 app on pocket pc. Some apps come in .cab file, which you just copy on your ppc and run it to install it. Some applications, however come in .exe files that you are supposed to run on your computer and it will be installed on ppc via ActiveSync.

or http://spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/mobileshell/?en

The last one can even do battery indicator.

My guess is that you are trying to install Smartphone versions of software which is coded for keypad-controlled devices. You need to look for specific Pocket PC versions and you will find that there is a far wider selection to choose from.

I would recommend SBSH's iLauncher for the functions you need on your Today screen.

SPB Pocket Plus is one of my favourite PPC apps and will do pretty much all you want and more (tabbed browsing in PocketIE, tabs of apps and settings on the today screen, battery monitor permanently along the top 2 pixels of the screen...)
