Guest petec500 Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Having deleted all but what i consider essential software from my device, i'm still struggling to get free storage space up on my Touch. One file i would really like to move is my contacts database, or pim file, which is currently 3MB. Is there any way to move this to the Storage Card and point my contacts software at it?
Guest petec500 Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 Quick follow-up question? What else is stored in the pim file other than contacts data? I just deleted loads of contacts, but the file has only come down to 2.4M
Guest mandt Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Contacts, Calendar, Tasks and I think Messages, basically everything to do with Outlook. If you haven't already done so syncing only the last two weeks of your Calendar should bring the size down a bit. Oh and I don't think it's possible to move it to the Card

These are stored (I think) in cemail.vol though pim.vol does register an access when a new message comes in :) And it is not possible to move them to a storage card
Guest Monolithix Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 You can however set your attachments to be stored on a storage card, if thats an issue?
Guest petec500 Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Thanks for the tips guys. I already had just the past 2 weeks appointments sync'd and set attachments to be stored on the storage card. Seems like i'm always hitting the storage space issue on this device - wish i'd waited for the larger RAM version.
Guest Monolithix Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Brave enough to try cooking the ROM yourself to boost the memory? :)
Guest petec500 Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Brave enough to try cooking the ROM yourself to boost the memory? :) This is something i'm contemplating. After installing loads of software that i've since uninstalled, i figured it would be good to do a complete rebuild with just the software i do use, so i figured it would be good to flash a new ROM too. I just wasn't sure which ROM to go for - i've seen so many over on xda developers. I reflashed my QTEK8310 before and that worked fine, so i'll certainly give it a go with my Touch soon.
Guest mandt Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Yeah good point there Mono, I did it with mine and it's much better :)
