Will the Tytn II work with an old SIM

Hello all.

Will the Tytn II work with my ancient SIM card (15 years old)? I am not bothered about data.

Also will it work without a SIM installed? I know the manual says there is an icon saying "no SIM installed"

however I have read one review where it says you must install a SIM.

Yeah, you shouldn't have a problem doing either one. I used to have an old SIM too, and after I got a new one I got much more consistent reception. They will do it for free if you ask usually. You should also have no problem turning it on without a SIM, you just won't be able to place calls. WiFi will work, but not GPRS or 3G.

Many thanks for that, order placed. :)

It seems I've got a similar problem. I upgraded to an XDA Stellar last week but haven't managed to get GPRS working yet despite ringing the call centre a few times. It appears that my GPRS isn't working because I haven't got a 3G enabled sim card. What confuses me is that I have been getting the icon showing 3G availability on the phone until yesterday (even though I couldn't connect). Now the icon has gone. However, I could access the internet on my old Sony Ericsson phone. Can the Stellar / Tytn II only access the internet with 3G sims?

GPRS isn't 3G, a 3G sim would have no effect on it...
