Guest prajith Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Check this out this is one of the best application ever I have seen on a smartphone device and is a charm on the vox. http://www.pointui.com/Home.aspx it has nice animations, weather everything. I tried the black theme and I would strongly suggest that.
Guest johniain Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Very interesting but surely it's for touch screens? How does it work on the VOX?
Guest Pr0sper Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Doesn't look that good to me. I prefer staying with customizable homescreens :)
Guest Rombald Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 (edited) Hi, @johniain: The 1.02b version of PointUI supports Smartphones. You can control everything with your DPad. It works very fine with the vox. But i prefer customizable homescreens too. I hope PointUI will be more customizable in the future :) Edited February 5, 2008 by Rombald
Guest prajith Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 customizable or not customizable but everyone should try this once it has the best features and animations nice glossy view
Guest oldfan Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I just installed it on my s720, very nice indeed. What I don't get is once I hit my home key, it goes back to the home screen I had installed
Guest prajith Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 yeah it will if you press the home key its just a application running on the vox try using the home button on the application itself
Guest oldfan Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 ahh, that seems kinda pointless if you ask me. I like it but having no contracts, isn't good :)
Guest dheerajk27 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 (edited) Very Nice interface, indeed. But, it occupies a lot of space in RAM - more than 4 and a half MB or so, just to keep running. Not only that, after you run the same for a while, it eats up more and more RAM. At one stage, I had just 0.4 MB RAM left, even after killing all other applications. Finally, had no choice, but to uninstall. Otherwise, interface was just superb. Hope the developers out there do something to optimize memory consumption. Guest johniain Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 prajith, thanks for sharing this great program and Rombald thanks for the information on how it works on the s710. The only problem I have had so far is that sometimes if I click on Applications Currently Running the Pointui program freezes and I have to click the end key which takes me back to the old home screen. Point ui will not then restart and I have to shut down and restart the phone. I expect the developers will have a few bugs to iron out but impressive so far.
Guest Samsonite Posted February 10, 2008 Report Posted February 10, 2008 i ran this one up on my E650 the other day - and took it off after an hour! i would agree that it is a very slick looking interface but it makes things too many keystrokes away - like using the phone. or sending a text. or getting to the Start menu! If it could have an MRU or some kind of launcher then i can see a lot more power in it but till then it's a bit of a Kate Moss. (pretty, but not a lot of use!)
