Guest tsutton Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/7228460.stm Well that's just stupid. You won't know if the seller is good until it happens!
Guest mandt Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 (edited) Mixed views on this from me, I never leave feedback, as the whole process is open to abuse, and I get exasperated at the childish 'You leave me feedback and I'll do the same for you' and hence would welcome the removal of the whole 'feedback' scheme for this alone Poor seller performance can also easily be masked by power sellers, whose score remains high through sheer volume of sales even though it's common to see them with many negative hits in the current month alone. However I will admit that It's one of the first things I check when buying or selling, I hope eBay implement a different scheme to enable people to spot the more unscrupulous sellers or I can see me doing a lot less trade through the site. For me eBay has been losing it's shine for quite a while now, and this isn't going to help matters Edited February 5, 2008 by mandt
Guest rameses Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 As I understand it a seller won't be able to be negative about a buyer, but a buyer could still leave negative feedback for a seller. So it might work ok as you would be able to tell if the seller was any good.
Guest mandt Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Aah yes you are correct! That's not so bad really, in any case if you are an honest seller who sells items at a fair price, and with fair postage you should have little to worry about, scammers aside of course! As a buyer this does put a bit of power back in your hands, as many people won't leave a negative hit for fear of retaliation, even after poor service
Guest Confucious Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 It will stop tit for tat negatives I suppose but still not sure, we'll have to see how it works out. I don't like the way they have stopped you seeing bidders names - you can no longer see if people are bidding their own items up IMHO I recently purchased a reconditioned HD Ready TV of eBay dirt cheap and left +ve feedback but there was a problem with it which I discovered after I had left feedback. After doing all the right diagnostics the seller had the TV picked up on the Monday and by Wednesday I had a full HD TV as a replacement which is better spec than the original and hass been perfect - but I can't revise my feedback! There are conmen out there but there are also some genuine bargains and nice sellers out there - I guess no feedback system is perfect, just wish I coulsd tell of my good experiences and also of my bad....
Guest Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Whats this, an ebay wish list? I wish if selling an item you could say "dont let anyone bid unless they have X amount of pos feedback". So tired of time wasters buying an item, unregistering then sending me a phoney paypal receipt and asking me to send the phone on! :)
Guest Neil5459 Posted February 6, 2008 Report Posted February 6, 2008 Presumably a seller could still leave a 'Positive' feedback, but put negative comments in the text box if needed? We'd just need to get used to reading the actual comments a bit more :)
