Guest petec500 Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Please help - everything's gone a bit Pete Tong with my Touch. Through lots of faffing around trying to get different maps on to my SanDisk 8GB Storage Card, using a USB card reader, i seem to have buggered up my Touch. Programs that i've installed on the SC aren't available any more, even though i can see them under Storage Card/Program Files directory. I even managed to run them by clicking on the executable file in that directory, but they're not accessible from Start-Programs - there are blank icons there (not the usual graphics) and clicking on them gives an error message "The file "whatever" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try re-installing or restoring this file". Strangley, TomTom still works ok even though that's installed on the storage card too, though it cant find my BT GPS anymore, and no maps are found. Things get stranger too - i sometimes have two Storage Cards showing in File Explorer - Storage Card and Storage Card 2!! The first just contains the file Inbox.mst298... but the latter seems to be corrupted. I've tried copying all the files to my PC using a USB card reader, formatting my 8GB card, then copying all the files back again, but it's still not working. What on earth is going on?????

Guest Monolithix Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 I had this happen to me just the other day. It seems TT installs itself to main memory regardless, however uses the Storage Card for some other files, run it without the card inserted and it creates the directory regardless! Simple solution: Remove card, delete "Storage Card" folder first (might be worth renaming instead to check everything works ok), then reinsert the card. Sorted!
Guest petec500 Posted February 5, 2008 Report Posted February 5, 2008 Many thanks for both these responses. Did exactly as descibed - deleted the "fake" storage card and hey-ho - all back to normal. Phew - panic over.
