Selecting different keypads takes ages - why?

As the title says really - whenever i need to enter text on my Touch, it comes up with the standard on-screen keyboard, which is fine for stylus entry, but when i want to write a quick text message, i prefer the HTC Touch Keyboard, which is more suited to finger/thumd typing. However, clicking on the little up-arrow next to the keyboard icon at the bottom of the screen takes ages (10-20 seconds or more) to bring up the menu to allow me to select a different text entry method. Any ideas why?

I did delete one or two of the trial keyboards that i didnt like, so i thought perhaps it's searching for these still, but i dont know how to kill that.

Also, is there a way to change the default keyboard? I tend to use the larger Touch Keyboard most, but always have to select it.

Ah, same issue with finding a good keyboard for your Touch as I have?

The time delay might be because you "deleted" the other keyboards (assuming you mean that literally). You should be able to uninstall keyboards through Settings - try that and see if it speeds up once you've uninstalled them.

Use SIPchange to set the default SIP (keyboard), you can download it from here somewhere. Works fine on the Touch

I really like the HTC Touch keyboard apart from one little thing - you get a nice click sound confirming each key press - apart from the space bar, which is silent! The number of times i think i've hit the space bar but haven't - it anoys the hell out of me!

Anyway, I'm pretty sure i did uninstall the other keyboards - i was uninstalling everything i didn't really use to make more space a while back.

I'll certainly have a go at SIPchange though - could solve my problem if i dont have to keep changing the setting.

Many thanks
