Help installing programs on Dash.

I've downloaded and tried to install programs on the dash. I can't get them to work, except pocket nester. Here is how I've tried so far. I download then unrar the file. then i open explore in sync and have tried drag and dropping the unrared folder in about every area i can. i sync again, then go into file explorer, find the file, open the folder, and click on install. it shows it installing, but i can't find any of the programs i've installed anywhere and have no way to use them.

what am i doing wrong?
